Update 42.1 introduces a new sandbox option that enables you to customize the discomfort level.

They should make a mechanic where the longer you wear a piece of equipment the more comfortable you get wearing it, like the item gets worn in.

I've personally never been uncomfortable wearing the items that make you uncomfortable in game, therefore this is an amazing mod and keeps the game more realistic to when shit hit's the fan. Great mod thank you!

First off, thank you for making this mod. Secondly, is there a way to start with the default rate of discomfort accumulation but as you get used to wearing that piece of equipment, it goes away?

As an example, I remember before my first deployment to Iraq, I was issued an IOTV bulletproof vest... I remember at first that thing was heavy, cumbersome, and massively uncomfortable, much like the system here portrays... but over the 18 months of infantry work over there, I got used to it... and even started to feel a positive effect of being extremely comfortable... I don't know if my body got used to it, or if the vest itself was broken in over time to fit my body better, but it eventually didn't encumber me at all, it was like a second skin almost.
