Spearhead 1944: Mortar Ridge [SP]

Description
July 15, 1944. As the 29th Infantry Division battles its way toward Saint Lo, inch by bloody inch, your reserve detachment must be prepared to take on the unlikeliest of tasks.

FEATURES
  • A single player scenario designed to showcase the content of the Spearhead 1944 CDLC!
  • Historically-authentic action involving both infantry and crew served weapons, set on the outskirts of the ruins of Saint Lo!
  • Immersion with hand-placed custom compositions and intense, sweeping views of combat sequences available only in this scenario!
  • Populated and dangerous AO with optional hidden objectives for additional gameplay, challenge, and potential reward!
  • Learn about the M1 81mm Mortar asset in Spearhead 1944 with hints about different ways to use them!
  • A fully-voiced scenario, created using both AI and live human voice acting!
  • Optimized CPU-friendly performance using my signature layer-based editing approach!

AUTHOR'S NOTES
  • After working for the past couple of years to help bring Spearhead 1944 to life, this is my second unofficial Workshop release, bringing the scenario ideas I always wanted to create.
  • INTENDED FOR SINGLEPLAYER ONLY, NOT INTENDED FOR COOP OR PUBLIC SERVER - MISSION DESIGN AS-IS IS NOT FEASIBLE FOR MP PLAY
  • As this scenario involves AI potentially either crewing static weapons, spotting, and/or other more advanced behaviors, it is recommended to pay more attention to orders and unit placement!
  • All screenshots displayed above (except the thumbnail overview image and the last two images) were captured from LIVE GAMEPLAY and were not staged
  • Elements in this scenario are inspired and informed by historical sources, including books, film/documentary, and internet articles, however, in the interest of gameplay and balance, some liberties have been taken.
  • This is a work of fiction, any resemblance to real people, units, or events is purely coincidental. Some elements in this scenario are entirely fabricated and are intended purely for entertainment purposes.
  • This mission is not affiliated with Heavy Ordnance Works, it is being released unofficially.
  • This is a beta release, some bugs may exist. Also, it's Arma, so there are bound to be things that will affect your playthrough. Reloading the mission can solve some issues. Please let me know if you run into any game-breaking bugs.
  • NOT RESPONSIBLE for any game-breaking bugs or issues playing with any addons in addition to the required ones listed here and I can't be held responsible if things don't work because of another modder's addon.
  • Due to personal and professional obligations, I am not actively maintaining these scenarios - they are being shared as-is from my collection of scenarios created for personal enjoyment - so please don't expect any immediate responses or fixes.
  • I'm interested to hear about your playthrough! If you enjoyed playing, please leave a comment, give a thumbs-up, or add it to your faves!

KNOWN ISSUES
  • Assembled forms of the M1 81mm Mortar (barrel + tripod) must be manually loaded each round and is not viable for AI to use for this scenario. Assembled version is recommended for use by players only. Mortars placed as turrets (already assembled), on the other hand come with a full magazine and can be used by AI and more easily resupplied. I was informed by HOW team this is by design, due to constraints of the engine that would lead to odd AI behavior and force me to fight the game every step with scripts (not my forte).
  • When being revived, some players have reported not rejoining their group or are no longer the group leader. Working to investigate further and resolve. For now, recommend you simply revert.

anytime HU....o7
Amazing mission. Had a bit of lag in CQB portions, namely some optional villages- but turns out you can just willy pete the krauts camping the houses. Really loved directing the mortar in this one for the final push and counter-attack. :jake::steamthumbsup:

I think ace (campaign compatible/no medical) caused some problems with hand-placed mortars not replenishing with the ammo truck, but the already placed ones replenish normally. Strange. Love the ending and the voice acting in this.
