Description
Hello all!

I bring you the Hoffman Tower, owned by Nexus Enterprises.

A relatively quick build, inspired by some skyscraper designs from the 1970's and 80's.

The building is rather angular in nature, with simplistic straight edges and angles. One of the standout aspects of its design is that the ground-floor has a smaller footprint than the above floors.

Another feature is the incorporation of a decorative pool and sculpture in street-side plaza. The lights for this plaza can be activated via a switch near the building's lobby entrance doors.

Enjoy!

Lore:

Construction on the Hoffman Tower started in 1977, with the ground breaking ceremony held on May 15th. The site was built on the remains of the demolished Wilhelm Building, which dated back to the late 1880's

The building was to be the home of the national office of Nexus Enterprises, a company specialising in heavy industry (Mainly steel production and oil refinement). The project had several major challenges, the biggest issue being its proximity to two other protected icons: The Bricksburg Business Bureau, and the Old Brickstate State House (The State House being from the early 1800's).

These factors led to the building footprint being very compact, to allow ample space on all sides. Careful consideration also went into allowing sufficient levels of ambient light to reach the ground and, more importantly, the neighbouring structures.

Work was completed on the 24th of November 1981.

Not all city residents were happy with the building however. Even before construction started, a campaign was established to 'protect the city's treasures', those treasures being the B.B.B and the State House. They argued the construction of Hoffman Tower could potentially lead to damage being dealt to the neighbouring structures. It would also lead to these buildings being obscured by the tower upon its completion.

In an attempt to quell the concerns of the public, Nexus Enterprises held a public Q&A meeting in Brickburg's Conference Hall. This was successful, for the most part. Many residents, convinced by the information presented by the company and the tower's architects, dropped their opposition. There were still some that held resenment against the tower, some even do to this day.

Presently, the building is considered an icon of the skyline by many. It, like many other buildings, holds a special place in the hearts of the inhabitants of Bricksburg.

A custom quay wall thrown together, simply for screenshot purposes. It's been used several times in previous creation pictures, just without the sea being visible.
