RHMS Britanis

Originally part of the Ocean Liners Pack before the addon became an archive for the retired models.



Here is the RHMS Britanis of the Chandris Line.

Britanis started her career as SS Monterey. She was the third ship in a series of 4 ships built for the Maston Lines in 1932. She was used as a troopship during WW2. She was returned after the war as SS Matsonia, and then renamed to SS Lurline after the company had sold the former SS Lurline to Chandris Lines. Mastonia herself would be sold to the Chandris Lines after Maston ceased passenger service, and she was renamed to Britanis. Chandris Lines also ceased operations in the late 1990s, and Britanis was sold for scrap. While under tow to the breakers, she sank off the coast of Capetown, South Africa in 2000.
