Description
Originally part of the Ocean Liners Pack before the addon became an archive for the retired models.

Here is the SS Queen of Bermuda of Furness Bermuda Line.

Queen of Bermuda was an ocean liner for the Furness Bermuda Line that operated between Bermuda and New York. She was built to replace the MV Bermuda after that ship caught fire. Her sister ship was SS Monarch of Bermuda. Monarch of Bermuda was known for being one of the ships that helped the SS Morro Castle after she caught fire Both ships would see active service during WW2 as troop transport ships, with Queen of Bermuda's 3rd funnel being removed. After the war, Queen of Bermuda repatriated Italian POWs from Liverpool to Naples and UK military personnel from the Far East back to the UK, and she returned to passenger service in 1949 after receiving her 3rd funnel back. Her sister, Monarch, caught fire while being refitted, She was sold for scrap, but before scrapping took place she was purchased by JI Thornycroft & Co, who completely rebuilt her and renamed her SS New Australia. In 1961, Queen of Bermuda was modified, which replaced her 3 funnels with 1 modern funnel, and she was lengthened. The company also bought a new ship to sail along side of her, the SS Ocean Monarch. SS New Australia would be one of the ships that carried UK emigrants to Australia and New Zealand after WW2. New Australia was later given to the Greek Line and renamed Arkadia. Both Queen of Bermuda and her sister continued service until the 1960s. Queen of Bermuda was sold for scrap in December of 1966, and her sister Arkadia was also scrapped that same month.
