Aurora Class Light Cruiser

The Aurora Class is based loosely upon the real world Atlanta class of light AA cruisers.
In game, this ships functions more as a Anti-everything versus just Anti Air. The 8 twin turrets mean that there are 16 barrels of 127mm shells capable of being fired every few seconds.

The shells themselves are pretty potent. While they are just 127mm, they can pen a full 4m beam of metal and then some, allowing it to burrow into light and medium vessels with ease. The HE payload may be small in a 127mm shell, but the VAA determined that with the penetrations power the shells possess, APHE was still the way to go.

In addition to the main battery, it has deck mounted torpedo's on each side, allowing it to engage submarines as well as damage larger targets and distract anti munition systems.
It also boasts a modest anti munition system itself, and can reach a respectable top speed of 40 m/s.

Intended to be used by the VAA navy as a scout and attack ship against smaller to medium targets, the Aurora exceeds expectations in this role. The vast number of shells, combined with their penetration capabilities, mean that it can take down aircraft of any size as well as obliterate surface ships with anything less than 5 meters of metal as armor.

The hull boasts a surprising amount of armor itself. The outer wing turrets are indeed exposed, but the centerline turrets are tucked behind multiple meters of alloy, metal, and airgaps. Meaning only constant barrages or high pen AP/SAP shells can reach the turrets and pop them. Multiple redundant detections systems, as well as back up engines and energy sources, mean that fully disabling this ship is tricky.

This ship is built for the Neters Edge Custom Campaign, intended for use within the VAA navy in early to mid game situations. Be prepared to face against this pretty little cruiser while also taking on the factions numerous large battle ships and cruisers.

This ship will likely be updated soon. I created a sister ship that will be uploaded alongside this one, but while creating that sister I realized a few shortcomings in this ship that I need to rectify. Expect it to be even more potent in the coming weeks. As always, if anything seems out of order, let me know.

Some of the sub objects, decorations, or other components used in this boat were from other creators. Big Bean (Mattjginsburg on steam) helped me learn how to make things look good, and some of the decorations and modules are from his creations with his permission. This boat, or others, may contain decorations from Sampson or other WWN creators; any decorations used were obtained from their publicly released Steam submissions with decorations and modules approved for use. Anything else found on any craft were from other publicly released decoration palates or repositories. Everything else was of my own creation. In particular I am proud of the turrets.
