Ignitor Class Light Support Cruiser

Description
The Ignitor Class is the sister ship of the Aurora Class, which was based loosely upon the real world Atlanta class of light AA cruisers.
In game, this ships functions more as an Anti-surface ship support vessel, intended to be deployed in tandem with another cruiser or battleship. The 6 twin turrets mean that there are 12 barrels of 127mm shells capable of being fired every second.

The main redesign parameters were to create a slightly cheaper vessel, which focuses on supporting larger vessels from afar. It was determined that the turret layout of 127mm turrets should remain, minus the wing turrets, but that the ammunitions should switch from the Auroras high penetration APHE, to newly developed API. The incendiary payload would degrade the enemy armor, allowing for easier penetration by both its own shells and the shells of nearby friendly vessels, thereby increasing their combat efficiency.

The turret tops were kept, as was the 127mm shells size. However, the internals were totally replaced. Gone were the 2-3 second reload of the 2m shell of the Aurora, and in its place became a 1m autoloader system designed to operate at about 47 rpm, per barrel. Equating roughly to about 564 shells per minute from all guns. Or about 9.4 shells per second. This greatly increased shell output matches perfectly with the incendiary payloads carried by the shells. More shells, more fires. Simple.

In addition to the main battery redesign, the deck mounted torpedos on each side were removed to save on material cost and weight.
Additionally, the modest anti munition system has been greatly enhanced with a newer, more potent, rapid fire 76mm anti-munition CIWS as well as a couple smaller CIWS deck cannons.

Intended to be used by the VAA navy as a support ship, it still maintains the ability to fend for itself alone. While the slower API shells are less adept at the Anti-Air role, they are still capable of taking down anything that gets close enough to burn.

The hull boasts a surprising amount of armor itself. Part of the redesign was to remove the outer wing turrets. Without the outer wing turrets which were very exposed, the over all tankiness of the ship increased dramatically. With the centerline turrets tucked behind multiple meters of alloy, metal, and airgaps, they remain more difficult to breach. Meaning only constant barrages or high pen AP/SAP shells can reach the turrets and pop them. Multiple redundent detections systems, as well as back up engines and energy sources, mean that fully disabling this ship is tricky. Part of the redesign was also including fair more active and passive defense mechanisms, which was made possible with the loss of the wing turrets and torpedo launchers providing more deck space, weight allowance, and material allowance for such systems. A large anti-torpedo system was installed underneath the hull. Additionally multiple CIWS systems were installed above deck. The combination of all these systems make the ship much more resilient against CRAM shells and small and medium missile barrages.

However, the added weight of the systems, which includes more energy generation for the energy hungry rail assistance within the new turret designs, along with drag from the anti-torpedo system, means top speed has dropped some what significantly from 40 m/s to about 32-35 m/s.

This ship is built for the Neters Edge Custom Campaign, intended for use within the VAA navy in early to mid game situations. Be prepared to face against this pretty little cruiser while also taking on the factions numerous large battle ships and cruisers.

This ship was created after the incendiary update, so it should be pretty good to go and free of update errors. But, as always, if anything seems out of order, let me know.

Some of the sub objects, decorations, or other components used in this boat were from other creators. Big Bean (Mattjginsburg on steam) helped me learn how to make things look good, and some of the decorations and modules are from his creations with his permission. This boat, or others, may contain decorations from Sampson or other WWN creators; any decorations used were obtained from their publicly released Steam submissions with decorations and modules approved for use. Anything else found on any craft were from other publicly released decoration palates or repositories. Everything else was of my own creation. In particular I am proud of the turrets. I love making turrets and guns look good, and I think these might be some of my best work yet. Enjoy, and credit those that come before you!
