Description
Have you ever wished you had seen the first ever Formula One world championship Grand Prix ? Take part in it instead and meet the pioneers.

The 1950’s Golden Lap Mod takes you back to another heart-stirring era of motorsport. The one of F1 bumpy beginnings.

It features 136 original drivers, 35 engineers and 29 crewchiefs ready to race for 9 original teams with proper logos, liveries and race suits or the updated Ezzolini team with a new livery and a new racesuit.

It also includes the 1950-1959 point scoring system awarding 8, 6, 4, 3 and 2 points to the top 5 drivers plus another point for the fastest lap.

All of the drivers, engineers, crewchiefs and teams are highly inspired by the 1950’s protagonists but none of them have real people or team names, for three main reasons :

- the mod intends to remain true to the base game’s spirit with a bit of humor (hopefully) and word plays as part of the lore.

- just like the base game, the mod aims to represent a whole decade rather than a specific season. Even if it is mainly inspired by the 1954 season, it also refers to a lot of other 1950’s events. It features characters whose ratings and traits are driven by biographical elements and historical performances, but they are not unquestionably accurate replication of real-life drivers, engineers or crewchiefs. Same goes for the teams, which involve a fictionnal part.

Still, theres a list showing who the real life inspiration is for each featured character and teams available on the mod’s reddit page (link in this page link section) if you are interested.

- out of respect for the real people whose avatars would have been arbitrarily given stats and traits that are not representative of their whole carriers or could have died in game.

can you add 1050s car models for the 1970s models that are in the orginal ?

Thanks to Author for reply, nahmods fine its the player thts the problem and the nuisance of limited modability in crucial areas (still appretiate the efforts on points and such, as someone who did not even attempt to joust with modding of the game i appretiate that there are limits).

good mod i say just limited by the curent seemingly too restrictive game modability (untill someone comes along and cracks that nut of 20+ cars, dfferent grid shapes, custom race tracks and such.

Hell i had to delete career right after this because of my woefull incompetence rearing its ugly head (i wanted retirement season of Mel Tooth to be champion and flubbed it throught the whole year STILL having most point before last race buuuut.... not after it :/ i am bad at this game basicaly)

Hi James*Blood,
The mod contains 136 original drivers with proper names, but also ratings and traits, as well as more than 60 original staff members.
Teams also have proper liveries, logos, starting finances and background story.
Regarding tracks and grid size, it is not modable so far.
I would suggest to check if the mod is correctly downloaded on your side if you do not have all of this when launching the mod.

Pretty good mod in terms of just name edits (and points).

the cars and tracks and even starting formations as well as grid size total remain same so if you just want names thats what this mod dose offer.
