Arquitens-class Frigate (2 Mods + DLC)

Description
Mod.io version is available here.[mod.io]

"The enemy ships are faster and more maneuverable. I suggest caution."
(c)

History

When hard times come, new heroes might come out on stage, and Arquitens-class frigate was one of them. Designed by Kuat as an intermediate warship to supplement scattered Republic fleets in their fight against the Separatists, this ship was faster and more agile than most CIS vessels. Because of the said traits, Arquitens was often tasked with exploiting enemy's vulnerable flanks, and provide support to smaller ships. However, despite being heavier than older Consular-class corvettes, and even receiving the nickname "Light Cruiser", Arquitens lacked the heavy firepower, and often had trouble in direct ship-to-ship combat as a result. Even despite all the flaws, these ships were liked by many, and particularly loved by General Obi-Wan Kenobi, who always made sure to keep at least one frigate operational in his fleet at any moment.

After the operation "Knightfall", Arquitens-class ships continued to serve the new iteration of the corrupt government, and were often seen policing Outer Rim worlds and securing trade routes. As Separatist Holdouts were silenced one by one, Arquitens went through a minor refit to stay relevant in the new climate. Limited size and armament actually became a big advantage, as the upkeep costs were relatively low compared to other warships, that were often too big for security and anti-piracy roles. However, large Imperial Task Forces and Fleets seemed to have completely abandoned this Clone Wars-era design by the time of the Battle of Scarif. Kuat did propose a number of redesigns, including the now infamous Cruiser 546, but none of them reached mass adoption.

Pros: big hangar for the size, good maneuverability, varied armament.
Cons: very thin armor, subpar maneuverability.

Mods Used

Mod Name
Reason For Using
Consequences of Not Using
To give this model large and stable hangar doors (subgrids - bad).
You will loose all hangar doors, but model itself will remain in tact and pressurized (except for the hangar obviously).
To equip this model with movie-like armament.
You will loose all weapons (obviously), but you can replace them with anything you want.

Additional Notes
  • Programmable blocks are turned off by default to improve performance. If you still desire to use them - access the terminal and toggle the group "Programmable Blocks" on.
  • While this thing can technically fit V-19 Torrents, I really wouldn't advise it. They are 14 blocks tall, and barely squeeze in, leaving no room for error. So unless you're roleplaying an early war Republic, I'd recommend sticking to V-Wings or Jedi Interceptors of various sorts.
  • Also, this model does feature a pressurized hangar, as it is small enough to not cause any issues. However, now it's your responsibility to depressurize the hangar before deploying fighters.
  • Yes, I did upgun this thing, because only 4 Dual Turbolasers seemed very underpowered to me. Have 8 instead.
  • As we never really saw how this thing's hangar is supposed to look, I had to make my own interpretation. And no, I had this hangar idea long before Cruiser 546 even existed. If anything, I could have been inspired by Star Wars Rebels all those years back, but definitely not Mandalorian.
  • Canonical size for this thing also seems to be total buІІshіt, as it is confirmed to reuse the entire rear section of the regular Consular-class, and yet it is supposed to be 300 meters long? Somehow??? 200m sounded a lot more reasonable to me, and it actually uses the rear from my never completed 138m Consular.

Sorry for taking so long; this stupid thing had to be completely redesigned last second because I wanted it to fit not only V-Wings, but also V-19s and [REDACTED]. Next release should be a ground unit (hopefully).

@Captain_chance23 Egh, can't say anything about others, but what I've tried seems to work well enough. But y'all will probably find a way to break it anyway.

@wrigley.bailey it's a pretty basic Solar System-style world with one additional planet and a couple large grids scattered here and there. Nothing special really.

@Bastion [Godzilla1808] Already spoiled in many screenshots, including this model - yes, Acclamator is in works, and will be released sooner rather than later.

@Rhine :badbarrett: :cchearts:

@francescoallegrezza1.0 Too much work for no benefit, and adding any mod retroactively will piss many people off, and rightfully so. As a matter of fact, all remaining small grid builds will be 100% vanilla, no mods, no DLC, as I've already set that trend with the other builds.

Hey Alec, are you also thinking about putting the new laser mods into the rest of your Blueprints?

ive seen a few AAS's on the workship with gear. the issue is either they break under the weight or the subgrids sucumb to the clang. either way thiss be a dope ass fleet to build around with
