USA 1808 Presidential Election

Description
Sixth in a series of maps of the US States (and Territories) of each Presidential Election Year.

Part of the Indiana Territory was partitioned off to create the Michigan Territory. Additionally, the District of Louisiana was reorganized as the Louisiana Territory, free from the jurisdiction of the Indiana Territory.

The 1808 election saw Republican U.S. Secretary of State James Madison of Virginia running against re-nominated Federalist former U.S. Minister to France & Revolutionary War hero Charles Cotesworth Pinckney of South Carolina.

Madison's running mate was incumbent U.S. Vice President George Clinton from New York. Pickney's running mate was once again former U.S. Minister to Great Britain Rufus King from New York.

The Seventeen States are divided into two alliances based off of which candidate received the most electoral votes for President from that state in the 1808 election:

James Madison, Republicans - PA, NJ, GA, MD, SC, VA, NY, NC, VT, KY, TN, OH
Charles C. Pinckney, Federalists - DE, CT, MA, NH, RI

Six non-state territories which did not participate in the election are not part of any alliance:
District of Columbia
Mississippi Territory
Indiana Territory
Orleans Territory
Michigan Territory
Louisiana Territory

I personally recommend disabling revolts entirely (until the no new nations bug is fixed) in Godmode.
If you want to play with the presidential election result as a primary factor, you can also disable alliance changing.

The number of cities that each state has is based off of how many seats in the House of Representatives were apportioned to the States following the Census of 1800.

DE: 1 City
PA: 18 Cities
NJ: 6 Cities
GA: 4 Cities
CT: 7 Cities
MA: 17 Cities
MD: 9 Cities
SC: 8 Cities
NH: 5 Cities
VA: 22 Cities
NY: 17 Cities
NC: 12 Cities
RI: 2 Cities
VT: 4 Cities
KY: 6 Cities
TN: 3 Cities
OH: 1 City

Non-State Territories get one city each for their capital. This is intentional and by design, since the territories tended to be lower population over very large areas. This makes those regions easy to capitulate, which was the desired effect.

Regarding the names of cities, the capitals of the states are based off of what the actual capitals of those states were in 1808 (a few did change again since 1804).

For the remaining cities, I attempted to find the most populous cities in the states based off of the Census of 1800. Several States had Census data which went only to the county-level, and so combining that data with some maps from the period, which mostly only had one city or town per county, and thus chose a city (usually the county seat) for the most populous counties in those states according to the 1800 Census.

The shape and terrain for this map is based off of the province map from Victoria 2. Likewise the shapes of the states are mostly drawn from that, with some modifications that I made to make them more accurate in some areas, and to reflect period-specific borders.

A special thanks to user Titanium Steel for his Scenario Converter python script for making these scenarios possible.
