C-01 Helfrich

Constructed by the Earth based Damen Marine company in 2144, the C-01 Helfrich was the lead vessel of the Helfrich-class cruiser submarines, created for service in the Europa Coalition's mercantile escort fleet. Designed for combat against larger and more hostile ocean creatures, cruisers were larger and more heavily armed than their destroyer or frigate cousins to accommodate for the added threat. Following the Europa-Earth split which cut all contact between the two celestial bodies, the Coalition quickly apprehended all Earth loyalist crews and confiscated most active cruiser submarines to prevent any attempt at a takeover.

With a majority of the firepower in their grasp the Coalition managed to secure their de-facto power and authority over the Jovian body, however a group of settlements still opted to rebel against the autocratic regime, using smaller but faster submarines to fight a guerilla war, paving the way for what would come to be known as "Attack" submarines; lightly defended but capable of punching far above their weight, the attack submarines soon would prove their superiority over the bulky and now archaic cruisers, leading to the Coalition scrapping or scuttling a majority of the ones under their control within only a few decades of war.

Having been the flagship of her squadron and class as well as being technologically superior to other cruisers, the Helfrich was spared this fate and remained in service as a combat vessel until it sustained heavy damage in battle. With slow repairs due to resource shortages and a lack of interest from higher-ups to keep the old and outdated cruiser running, the vessel was auctioned off to an independent mercenary crew performing odd-jobs around the moon.

This is my first attempt at creating a submarine, I hope it suffices.
