Deterrance Tactical Bomber

Description: The Deterrance Tactical Bomber is a Supersonic nuclear bomber designed to fly long range bombing missions on at sea and land based installations. This aircraft flies at 140-150m/s at 650 to 690m to deliver 5 or more "Vengence" nuclear Cruise missiles with an approximate 20 Kilo ton warhead on lightly defended installations or at sea targets. It has no offensive weapons other than the bombs, but has a SSLQ-2600 "Scrambler" radar jammer capable of frying most incoming missile radars. It also boasts a powerful UEMR-56 Dual air and surface search radar. After firing the compliment of cruise missiles, the bomber can continue to produce missiles using 'aquired' gravitometric nanobot systems salvaged from a Scarlet Dawn "Dark Star" missile/railgun cruiser. It also has a range of 8000 square Kilometers.

History: After the fall of the Onyx Watch, the naturally suspicious Lightning Hoods began practicing joint strike exercises with the White Flayers along Republican Territorial waters, each side goading the other in terms of patience and response times. Chairman Emil "River Rat" Jacobson became increasingly paranoid of a potential two front war with both the Hoods and the Flayers. With no Airforce, let alone nuclear weapons; the nation stood little chance for survival in a war on two sides. That was until Emil began drafting specifications for a conventional bomber. It needed to be fast to catch the Hoods off guard, and carry a large bomb load to deter any form of aggression. Chairman Jacobson then formed the "Naval Air Brigade" with the help of a former Guardsman Captain by the name of John Allison. Allison was the premier captain of the Deep Water Guard's airship fleet, only surviving the initial purge after the Eriwick Liberation Party's victory by defecting before the historic "Battle of Janwall" at the end of the "River Blitz". John began issuing bids for the design when a foreign engineer from Normont Sent his design. It looked modern, fast and capable of delivering a staggering payload for its size. Allison brought the design to Chairman Jacobson which was approved for prototype construction. The two "Fullback" jet engines were taken from a Guardsman "Buccaneer" airship, they were the only jet engines that were able to produce the necessary thrust, but were not after-burning. The Afterburner modifications were spearheaded by the design teams at Haddock Island, the primary producer of the feared "Moray" airship. The air gantry was dismantled and a large concrete runway and hangars were constructed to accomodate the large bomber. Tests were almost flawless other than the occasional engine failure caused by sand ingestion. The weapon systems were approved to be fitted onto the aircraft when a breakthrough discovery changed the course of this project.

Cutlass Island lies 250 km off of the Janwall archipelago, on it a massive alien structure was found jutting out of the water and onto the sands of the island's beach. A "Kingsnake" frigate in the area noted the crimson armor cladding and large rusting railgun sagging to touch the water. Upon closer inspection the ship had the faded name "SD-Cassius". The captian of the vessel immediately reported the abandoned Scarlet Dawn cruiser to High command she also recognized the large missile rails as a Dark Star missile railgun cruiser. The only issue is that the crashed ship landed on an island that is technically right on the border between Lightning Hoods territory. Emil ordered that the ship be scrapped immediately, along with its two large fission reactors. Under the cover of darkness, Republican salvage crews were able to disguise their efforts as civilian of a private real estate venture. Both reactors were able to be loaded onto barges and brought back to the Janwall Naval Ship yard. After 2 months the enriched urainium was able to be salvaged and the first sparks of the Free Eriwick Republic's nuclear program was kindled under the nickname "Project Sunrise". A payload vehicle was constructed from a failed Steel Striders cruise missile prototype under the guise of "radar training targets" thanks to the Aid of Young Nations initiative. The first nuclear detonation since the Ashes treaty was signed sent shockwaves through the media. Heated debates at monthly international counsels between to sow uncertainty between all the nations of Neter, even catching the attention of the Scarlet Dawn whom almost never attended due to "such trivial and primitive political squabbles." The Lightning Hoods accused the Free Eriwick Republic of theft for technology in their territorial waters. Chairman Jacobson responded by saying the island has historically always been considered Eriwick Territory, "To these tech perverts to the east, their aggression, paranoia and posturing are putting the lives of millions at risk of both Orhurst and the Eriwick. To your commanders, do you really want to be held responsible those poverty stricken dung piles you call cities to be evaporated. One misstep into our territory will be met with firepower that makes even the Dawn blush!" -Emil "River Rat" Jacobson. The Steel Striders were the mediator during the meeting, Emil's words made commanders of every nation murmur and whisper. The Lightning Hoods called their accusations "Ludicrous!" and "Such sabre rattling is indicidive of a weak an inept leader." The High Priest of the White Flayers shook his head while leaning over to The Hoods diplomatic representative with an empty concerned look. Then with several taps from a gavel, The Steel Strider's Empress Rhea called for order. The purple translucent figure from the Scarlet down section stared at him with a subdued smirk.
