(GC Ver.) Varangian Guards for Grand Campaign and the Last Roman DLC

Description
DESCRIPTION

This mod introduces three units of the famed Varangian Guard Emperor's Bodyguards to the Grand Campaign and the Last Roman DLC.

Historically, Varangian guards began to appear in history under Basil II in the 9th and 10th century AD. Obviously, this mod is not historically accurately and introduces them to the Eastern Roman Empire about 5-6 centuries too soon.

-These units are recruited from the city chain from Lvl 2-Lvl 4, which means that you can recruit them in provinces without military recruitment buildings

1. Varangian Guard Foot is a sword & shield melee infantry unit like Eastern Armoured Legio

2. Varangian Guard Axe is an axe & shield melee infantry unit like Bucellari Guard Axemen from The Last Roman

3. Varangian Guard Spears is a spear & shield unit that can melt enemy cavalry and withstand cataphract charges (see special anti-cav ability)

-These units will almost NEVER rout (as was the case in history, they either fought to the bitter end or utterly wiped out the fleeing enemies). They also have "Headhunt" which makes them unbreakable for 30 seconds even when surrounded and exhausted.

-They have higher hp, attack, defence, amour, and morale stats than most end-game units in game to reflect their combat prowess

-They have precursor throwing weapons (Guard Axe throws axes, Guard Foot and Guard Spear throw plumbata darts)

-I did not put a campaign recruitment cap, so you can spam them if you want or have your emperor's army full of these elite guard units

-Bonus: they can also be recruited in your Last Roman DLC Campaign under the camp chain.

Should be compatible with most mods out there.

Leave a "Like" or an "Award" if you enjoy my work! I thoroughly test all my mods to make sure they work as intended! Modding and testing is hard work!

@ochonp098 - Yeah, I purposely did not include them in military buildings, but camp recruitment only. My reasoning was, if you lost ties to Constantinople, how do you get Saxons and Dane warriors who form the Guard to join?

Update: Give these elite men new variant mesh skins that make them resemble Varangians (and less barbarian)... Okay, barbarians with full armour.
