EDIT! Added a very rudimentary (not great sounding) speed based, rising frequency siren for use in the dive.

An improved version of the Junkers Ju 87 B-2 Stuka dive bomber, taking advantage of the new features of version 1.7 of the game.
It is armed with two 7.92 mm MG 17 forward facing machine guns in the wings and one 7.92 mm MG 15 machine gun facing the rear.
It also carries a payload of 1 x 250 kg bomb under the fuselage and 4 x 50 kg bombs under the wings.

The Junkers Ju 87, popularly known as the "Stuka" (short for the German Sturzkampfflugzeug, "dive bomber"), is a German dive bomber and ground-attack aircraft. Designed by Hermann Pohlmann, it first flew in 1935. The Ju 87 made its combat debut in 1937 with the Luftwaffe's Condor Legion during the Spanish Civil War of 1936–1939 and served the Axis in World War II from beginning to end (1939–1945).

The aircraft is easily recognisable by its inverted gull wings and fixed spatted undercarriage. Upon the leading edges of its faired main gear legs were mounted ram-air sirens, officially called "Lärmgerät" (noise device), which became a propaganda symbol of German air power and of the so-called Blitzkrieg victories of 1939–1942, as well as providing Stuka pilots with audible feedback as to speed. The Stuka's design included several innovations, including automatic pull-up dive brakes under both wings to ensure that the aircraft recovered from its attack dive even if the pilot blacked out from the high g-forces, or suffered from target fixation.

The Ju 87 operated with considerable success in close air support and anti-shipping roles at the outbreak of World War II. It led air assaults during the Invasion of Poland in September 1939. Stukas proved critical to the rapid conquest of Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, and France in 1940. Though sturdy, accurate, and very effective against ground targets, the Stuka was, like many other dive bombers of the period, vulnerable to fighter aircraft. During the Battle of Britain of 1940–1941, its lack of manoeuvrability, speed, or defensive armament meant that it required a heavy fighter escort to operate effectively.

After the Battle of Britain, the Luftwaffe deployed Stuka units in the Balkans Campaign, the African and the Mediterranean theatres and in the early stages of the Eastern Front war, where it was used for general ground support, as an effective specialised anti-tank aircraft and in an anti-shipping role. Once the Luftwaffe lost air superiority, the Stuka became an easy target for enemy fighters, but it continued being produced until 1944 for lack of a better replacement. By 1945 ground-attack versions of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 had largely replaced the Ju 87, but it remained in service until the end of the war in 1945.

Germany built an estimated 6,000 Ju 87s of all versions between 1936 and August 1944.

CONTROLS
Pilot's seat - Alt controls
W/S: Variable Throttle.
A/D: Ground steering/Yaw.
Up/Down Arrows / Mouse: Pitch.
Left/Right Arrows / Mouse: Roll. In reality only the outer most flaps were used as ailerons (the rest were used as flaps) but since rolling force is notoriously lacking in the game I use all of them as ailerons.
B / Beacon: Take-off assist. This plane suffers from that old game "feature" that it can NOT drive straight on the ground at all and the rudder does nothing at speeds under 120 kph, so I added thrusters that are operated with the steering to aid with keeping the plane straight while moving on the ground. Turn off as soon as you lift off.
L / Headlights: Landing Light.
X / Disable Steering: Dive Breaks.
K / Hazard Lights: Dive siren. Starts at low frequency at 300 kph and ends up at highest frequency at 400 kph. It's purely speed based so use only in the bombing run.
Fire Action 1 / Num 1: Machine Guns.
Fire action 2 / Num 2: 250 kg bomb in central cradle. Allow 1 second to release.
Fire action 3-6 / Num 3-6: 50 kg bombs under the wings.
Camera 1: Floor target observation window.
Camera 2: Bomb view.

Rear Gunner's/Radio Operator's seat
X / Disable Steering: Turn seat to switch between machine gun and radio.
Alt + Arrow keys or Mouse: Aim machine gun.
Fire action 1 / Num 1: Fire machine gun.

I have added none of the automated systems nor the iconic air siren since a one note siren sounds lacklustre, and I can't be bothered adding 20 horns timed to sound at different frequencies. But anyone so inclined is free to do so.

Dive bombing procedure
- Spot target.
- Reduce throttle.
- Deploy dive brakes.
- Activate dive siren (optional).
- Dive towards target at 60-80 degree angle.
- Aim and drop the bomb. Allow a second for it to fully deploy with the swinging cradle.
- Retract dive brakes and pull out of the dive.
- Hear your enemies go BOOM.

I will build the occasional plane from time to time but every time I do I get reminded hoe inconsistent and utter crap the aerodynamics in the game are for prop planes and I need a few weeks in between builds to decompress from the utter mind-melting frustration of trying to make a plane just able to take off and fly straight at different speeds and with different payloads.

Unsub and resub to get the latest version.
If you have any complaints about how the siren works and sounds I really don't care. Feel free to make a better one yourself.
