Description
Features :

You might be one of those people that clench their fist when they see Teclis on his arcane phoenix or Wulfrik on his stupid mammoth. If this is the case, then this mod is for you!

I removed (almost) all the mounts added by CA that are not present in the tabletop 8th edition army lists. And as a result, I lowered the level requirement for certain characters to unlock their mounts (i.e Katarin's War Sled) as a way to improve their XP progression.

Here's the full list of mounts that were removed :
Legendary Lords
  • Settra the Imperishable - Skeletal Steed, Khemrian Warsphinx
  • Arkhan the Black - Skeletal Steed
  • High Queen Khalida - Skeleton Chariot
  • Grand Hierophant Khatep - Skeletal Steed, Skeleton Chariot, Casket of Souls
  • Crone Hellebron - Dark Steed
  • Lokhir Fellheart - Maelstrom
  • Khazrak the One-Eye - Tuskgor Chariot, Razorgor Chariot
  • Balthasar Gelt - Barded Warhorse
  • Elspeth von Draken - Barded Warhorse
  • Volkmar the Grim - Barded Warhorse
  • Tzarina Katarin - War Bear, Frost Wyrm
  • Alarielle the Radiant - Barded Ithilmar Steed, Great Eagle
  • Teclis - Barded Ithilmar Steed, Arcane Phoenix
  • Wulfrik the Wanderer - Norscan Warhorse, Marauder Chariot, War Mammoth
  • Heinrich Kemmler - Barded Nightmare
  • Isabella von Carstein - Barded Nightmare, Hellsteed
  • Kroq-Gar - Cold One, Horned One
  • Tehenhauin - Horned One, Ripperdactyl
  • Ikit Claw - Doom-Flayer, Doomwheel
  • Throt the Unclean - Brood Horror
Lords & Heroes
  • Tomb King - Skeletal Steed
  • Tomb Prince - Skeletal Steed
  • Necrotect - Skeleton Chariot
  • Skaven Chieftain - Bonebreaker
  • Skaven Packmaster - Brood Horror
  • Battle Wizard - Imperial Pegasus, Imperial Griffon (Amber Wizard)
  • Damsel - Unicorn
  • Frost Maiden - Frost Wyrm
  • Ice Witch - Frost Wyrm
  • Skink Priest - Terradon (except for Tlaqua), Stegadon, Ancient Stegadon
  • Daemonsmith Sorcerer - Great Taurus, Lammasu, Bale Taurus

Disclaimers :
This mod doesn't add any of the mounts that are missing from the tabletop army lists.

Lords & Heroes that don't have tabletop rules (i.e Vampire Coast) didn't have any of their mounts removed, meaning some characters can still unlock their mounts like in the base game.

I also made an arbitrary decision to keep some unique mounts that are not part of the tabletop rules because they looked cool (Khalida's Necroserpent), and remove some others because they looked goofy or out of place (Khatep's Casket of Souls).

Give back old Khatep his Casket!

Otherwise, a good mod.

I don't care about lore, but I do love the idea that not everyone needs to be riding something all the time. Good mod!!

Don't tomb kings and princes have tabletop rules for a skeletal steed?

Taking away Khateps casket just seals his fate as THE worst lord to play, even generic tomb king now more interesting.

Wizards are insanely powerful in Total War Warhammer, removing their flying mount gives certain factions a fair chance to kill them and incentivize the player to be more careful when casting spells as well. It also nerfs cheesing strats where you send your caster alone to bait the enemy army into wasting their ammo and charge into battle.

No pegasus on battle wizards is brutal

@Red Duke : Could you contact me on Discord and provide me with the source materials so I can make the necessary corrections ? Username is Antagonistes on Da Modding Den.

If not, you can still post the links here if you like.

That's an unofficial fan book written by Mathias Eliasson for the Warhammer Armies Project 9th edition, a fanmade continuation of Warhammer Fantasy that was fairly popular during the setting's absence from GW stores.
There is a disclaimer that the book is unofficial on the bottom of page 6.
In 8th edition, all vampire lords can ride zombie dragons regardless of bloodline.

I would also like to note that the Sorcerer-Prophet can ride a Bale Taurus on the tabletop, which book did you use as a source? Chaos Dwarfs in 8th edition are found in Tamurkhan: Throne of Chaos

Very classy

For the Sorcerer-Prophet, it was a mispel on my part. I corrected the description, thank you for pointing that out.

According to the Vampire Counts 8th Edition army book, Lahmian Vampire Lords don't have access to Zombie Dragons. Let me know if I missed something, here's the doc I'm looking at :
