Hangup in Havana - Battle of Cuba

In 1 collection by Kaptian Charlie
Kaptian Charlie's 1984-1985 Campaign
17 items
Description
The date is March 1, 1985. Havana remains NATO’s final bastion in Cuba, heavily fortified and bracing for a decisive Soviet assault. U.S. forces hold key positions in the city, reinforced by entrenched mechanized units and supported by a carrier strike group offshore. Intelligence confirms three Newport-class LSTs are approaching with additional armor—if they land, breaking NATO’s hold will become far more difficult. Soviet naval forces have been tasked with neutralizing coastal defenses and securing a beachhead for the amphibious landing. Airborne and mechanized units will push inland, seizing vital infrastructure and cutting off NATO’s retreat. With enemy air and naval support still active, swift and decisive action is required to ensure victory. Commander, your orders are clear: cripple NATO’s defenses, prevent enemy reinforcements, and seize Havana before they can regroup. Expect fierce resistance—victory here will determine the fate of Cuba.

Addendum to my comment; it seems the problems stems from me unchecking the "unit fire at surface target when weapons free" in the settings.

So if your units aren't firing at surface target even with weapons free try checkin the settings

@TheHans. I would be if I had any units close to them as a aircover. Not hundred miles elsewhere not even in the air when enemy helicopters are already launching hordes of weapons at them... Author of the scenario clearly dosn't know the term "Operational preparation" when each and every scenario is about starting the mission firing every weapon possible and seeing which one will hit. Its just a uncontrollable mayhem where the enemy typically has air assets already deployed and en route while you are trying to only determine the situation who is where. Its a superb masochist mindset.

@kodiak yeah its defiantly annoying, I do point it out in the starting message but thank you for clarifying it here.

heads up for anyone palying but even with their ROE set to weapons free the tanks aren't attacking. So they just keep moving forward while getting shot at by the enemy unless you micro them. It's not the fault of the scenario mind you it's just the game's AI is.....fuck

@flankymanga you are the aircover vro.....

As allways such idiotically designed mission. Soviet land units are left virtually without any air cover and are swarmed by tons of AH-1 and Abrams tanks. If you want something more realistic you are at a wrong address. This mission is a piece of crap. Move along.

@Eternal Dolphin there was an error accidentally set time for 7 minutes not 7 hours should be fixed now, thanks for the comment.

this might be a good missison, but just 10 minutes in, as i had my "logistics" sorted out, i instantly got the message that we lost the ground battle and the mission was over.
