Battle of Rumani coast

On the night of July 11, 1967, following Israel’s victory in the Six-Day War, the Israeli Navy carried out a patrol mission along the recently secured Sinai coastline. The objective was to enforce maritime control, monitor unauthorized vessel movements, and respond to potential threats in the area.

During the operation, intelligence intercepts detected suspicious naval activity nearby. Shortly after, radar contact confirmed the presence of unidentified vessels moving at high speed. As tensions in the region remained high, the situation quickly escalated into a naval engagement. The ensuing battle played a crucial role in asserting Israeli dominance over the newly expanded maritime zone.
