Description
Lore: Yeland and Darius were discussing plans and inventory down with some of the fighter pilots in the hangar bays of the facility incase they were to be deployed to the action in the Bytan system. Fighting had been heavy there for a few days now but was bound to wrap up soon from the latest reports. Captain Blade sat in his office keeping an eye on the situation and keeping contact with commanders monitoring the battle. Lt Kaol had prepared as much as he knew how in the mean time. Aleena sat around at a table in the main galley of the station watching ships enter the system to drop off survivors and wounded then warp out again to go get more. She hated the war and she hated the pirates after everything they did, especially the attack on her home colony, and now this. Soon two more ships dropped out of warp flanked by 2 fighters each. The hospital ships were heavily damaged and the fighters looked like they weren’t in much better shape. One fighter had it’s weapons completely disabled save for one canon that the pilot worked some magic to get back online. Another was working on one engine and would likely have to be towed in. She could hear the calls on the communicator she kept in front of her on the table to monitor the situation. Soon she saw a fireball erupt from one of the engines of the heaviest damaged hospital ship before the force of the explosion rocked the station. She could barely make out that the fighter pilot with one functional engine managed to eject before his fighter was engulfed and destroyed. Mercifully it wasn’t worse, but now the ship was adrift and no longer fit to keep retrieving survivors.
“You gonna be okay kiddo?” She heard the gruff voice of Phaze as he placed a hand on her shoulder. The leader of the Gold XM pilots had become a mentor to her with her technopathic abilities. If their fighters weren’t undergoing repairs they too would be out there in Bytan fighting. “I will be.” She told him. She soon heard the chirp on the little computer next to her communicator and saw the readouts from the damaged hospital ship coming in, then the communicator spring to life. “Aleena the readouts from the damaged ship should be on your screen now. Is there anything you or the gold boys can do?” Yeland asked her. She didn’t need to see the specs but she looked anyways, however Phaze beat her to the punch. “Nothing we can do without bringing her into port.” He told them. Yeland made plans to get the ship into dock. Aleena had been to Bytan a couple times when she was younger. She dreaded to think of the shape of the cities on the planets now. Soon another chirp came in on the communicator as Captain Blade ordered all crews to battle stations as a massive object was approaching the station. When the object dropped out of warp they could all see a Starforge with several newer ships docked to it that were lending the Starforge their warp power. The captain of the chief Ocar radioed that they needed fuel for their warp drives to continue on to the other side of Bytan.
If Bytan fell it would be a straight shot to allied race medical facilities a couple systems over. If Bytan held and they could get the Starforge in place they could guarantee a safe place for those trying to escape the war. Everyone scrambled to get the needed fuel and soon the ships and starforge were gone again arriving in the new system safely. Seeing this new station the allied races were grateful and refueled the Ocars allowing them to join the battle at Bytan to break the pirate lines. Aleena wished that Space Command would’ve guaranteed the pirates were wiped out in the first war and could feel a silent rage building within her. Then she heard the amazing news that several combat capable civilian ships had followed the Ocars to the battlezone and were picking up where the hospital ship left off. She had seen some of the worst in people with the war, far more often than not. However moments like that brought tears to her eyes when she could see the best. Perhaps the war would be over soon and the galaxy could focus on the good.

Notes: The original Ocar was a ship I created years ago and was my long range ship of the time. Back in those days I didn’t really need to go beyond 4k km so anything over 3500 I considered good. As time and the game has changed my old model of the ship just didn’t hold up anymore, especially post hydrogen changes. The old variant of the ship was the first one I built where I experimented with an automated repair system to keep certain stuff functional in combat. Far as my history with the game goes it was another pivotal ship in my run that I couldn’t really let go of. With the changes in the game and now the new encounters, I needed a dedicated long range ship. As such I created a second gen Ocar you see here. Designed to be a heavy cruiser it can operate alone for long periods of time, or with escorts. With it’s range of well over 10k km it can get you to most of the new encounters in the system and deliver enough knockdown power to make Factorum sorry for messing with you. Or give you a long range ship capable of scouting. If you’re looking for a long range heavy cruiser that can deliver firepower quickly and get some much needed intel, the Ocar Gen 2 is for you. Notes: Ship comes with Red Alert functionality controlled by a timer block to enable/disable combat systems. Docking and reloading has been automated by event controllers that will enable/disable the sorter when cargo bays reach the standard capacity for a normal load. Various overrides available on the bridge for when certain automations aren't desired. Stations labeled with their functions. All gas generators and reactors have their Use Conveyor System setting turned off by default, but can easily be turned back on to allow them to pull fuel. This was done so they don't just eat all the reserves for those who wish to spawn the ship in. All regular cargo bays, lockers, armories and crates come stocked with weapons, tools, fuels, ammos, and so on for those who wish to spawn the ship in.
