You need to have a darkwinter or haoplay installation of GFL2 (either works since the gamedata's the same).

If you don't have the gamedata elsewhere/are steam-only you're out of luck, sorry :c

After downloading the update (which wiped all game data for no reason) if you right click the game in your steam library and check installed files there should only be 644.9MB of data left. From there on you do the following:

1. Open the steam folder with your game data
For me it's in:
(or click the browse button)

2. Open the standalone game client folder
for me it's located in:

3. Copy the "GF2 Exilium Data" folder from the standalone game client and paste it into your steam folder
4. Click yes to replace everything if asked
5. Verify integrity of game files

And you're done!

Someone brought up the worry that purchases might not work.
So I went ahead and tried it out. I can confirm that everything works just fine:



The steam reviews were "very positive" on the 12th of February just before they released this random update that wipes your game data. It's sad to see but at least there are ways to save some people from having to redownload everything xd
