I-190 is a large submarine developed by the Imperial Navy in the middle of the war. It is mainly used to destroy transportation supply lines and sneak attacks on American surface ships. Due to its relatively low cost and relatively satisfactory performance, a total of 28 of this type and its modified versions were produced, which is the largest type of large submarine produced by the Empire during the war.
I-190 Empire is one of the few submarines equipped with a tail torpedo tube. Like other large submarines of the Empire, it carries oxygen torpedoes with considerable damage. Compared with many of them produced in the past, the biggest feature of I-190 is its relatively large size and two deck guns. However, the design of two deck guns is often considered to have little significance in post-war evaluations.
The safe diving depth of I-190 is 115 meters. However, in actual use, submarine soldiers often find that its actual maximum diving depth is only about 100 meters. If it dives to a deeper depth, it may cause the hull to leak, which is also considered to be the reason why 2 of this type gone missing during the war.
In general, the I-190 did not achieve particularly brilliant results during the war, but its large-scale deployment still caused certain troubles and concerns for the layout of the United States' transportation lines in the Pacific, and to a certain extent filled the gap in the empire's combat effectiveness in the field of underwater warfare.
