Spomenik Tito - Velenje

The Monument to Josip Broz Tito in Velenje, Slovenia is a large bronze statue of the former leader of Yugoslavia. It stands in the centre of Tito Square, which is the cultural and geographic heart of the city.

- Features -

- The statue is six meters tall, plus a four-meter pedestal, making it the world's tallest Tito statue.
- It depicts Tito in a military uniform and his trademark winter coat.
- The statue is a replica of the one in Tito's birthplace of Kumrovec, Croatia.
- The statue was erected in 1977 to honour the 40th anniversary of Tito's election as the president of the Yugoslav Communist Party.

- History -

- Tito Square was officially opened in 1959.
- It was the site of several key meetings during the socialist era, including visits from Soviet leaders Nikita Khrushchev and Leonid Brezhnev.
- The square is still the host of many open-air events.

- Location -

Tito Square is located in the centre of Velenje, with the house of culture on its left and the town council building on its right.
