(2) Ortona Outskirts

Description
A competitive 1v1 map designed for the CCC mapping competition.

This map is set after a night of heavy rain in the outskirts of Ortona, where the Canadians historically fought a significant battle against the Germans.

The map is designed to be a competitive 1v1 automatch style map. The middle of the map is more cramped than many maps and encourages a North/South split on the map, despite the main bases being divided East/West. This unorthodox split is embraced in the designed flow of the map. Each side of the map has two low fuels right next to each other roughly equidistant from each player. With a relatively safe high fuel for both players, this means you can secure half the fuel on the map by prioritizing a North or South push rather than just controlling the half of the map closest to you. Additionally, the VP layout is such that each flanking VP is closer to one player. However, the cover at the VP closer to player A favors player B. The result is that you can choose to play focusing either the side where the VP is closer to you, or you can choose the side where the cover favors you more. All of this adds up to a map that plays a bit differently from many other 1v1 automatch maps.

As evidenced by the Canadian theme of the map, this map was intended to cater toward the new battlegroups in the Fire and Steel DLC. A relatively high number of garrisons (6) on the map lends itself to play with the Canadian pyrotechnics. The highly contested low fuels are also less punishing if you are stalling for a heavy tank call in. The middle of the map, on either side of the central buildings, is fairly open with ample opportunity for heavy tank play. However, the less navigable middle of the map means countering heavy tanks through mobility remains a viable option.

I hope you all enjoy the map and appreciate the unique gameplay it offers!

Excellent 1v1 map, great for tight battles around the center and wide flanks on the top and bottom. Good cutoff play and very fun infantry fights with the cover.

Wow, for being a work in progress it is looking really good!
2 quick fixes: Remove the temporary red and purple lines answell as fixing the in-game title to say "(2) Assano Ambush" and it's good for a proper playtest. :)
Also, may I suggest perhaps moving the fuel points at the top and bottom away from eachother so they are not within eachothers sight-lines.
I can see this becoming a really beautiful and fun map, good luck on your project! :D
