It's a handy way to start getting used to how things in the editor work before you get to making them from scratch, Or LOADing a model, Then EXPORT and IMPORTING the parts as you modify them to make your own guy from parts that you like the look of.
I really liked the poofy Jacket on the BIKER model so I used that, And made bones stick through and painted a logo on the back. Then I used the legs from the ..GAS model I think because it had cool buckles and added some more straps and things. The head I made from scratch, And the Crow on his shoulder but it could have been rounder.
But I talk too much. In short, It's a great way to learn.
