Occupation Based Starting Gear

Description
Lore-friendly starting loadouts for all vanilla ocupations and optional skills rebalance to make sense picking a occupation! Starting itens are fully customizable in Sandbox.

All items were chosen based on the equipment used by these professionals in real life, but I tried to keep some balance: A Veteran could start with a M14 or a M16 rifle, and the Construction Worker should have at least a sledgehammer. But as I'm a fan of realism, but I also like challenge and balance, I decided to think better about items that make sense but don't turn you into John Wick on day one.

I added a submod with rebalanced skills for all ocupations to make sense of the items, because... Tell me:

• What's the point of studying medicine for six years if in Project Zomboid you start with only +3 First Aid and nothing more besides a dirty lab coat and faith in God?

• Why does a rural town cop who's probably only been pulling cats out of trees his entire life have +3 Aiming, if a battle-hardened, dessentized Veteran only has +2?

Personally I can't understand what The Indie Stone thinks about what realism is, as most vanilla professions are basically useless except for roleplaying or very niche roles. The starting skills in this game never made sense and the eternal meta is always Fire Officer, Burglar or Unemployed in every run.

(Also I added descriptions whit cues about what items you get at spawn if you only play in Apocalypse mode, but if you don't like them, there's a submod without it.)

Original mod was made by "VOID", and the B42 Port was done by "Mang". With all my heart, thank you.

If you want to backport this to B41, add support for a mod (like SOTO or Mar's Traits) or even update if a game update breaks this mod, feel free. I don't have much coding skills and no free time to spare.

I'm thinking about doing this, since I'm very frustrated with the vanilla professions and traits. But I can't guarantee that I'll be able to do it, because I'm not very good with codding and I'm working overtime irl.

And I don't plan on supporting B41. If anyone wants to backport it or add support for some other mod, feel free.

I'd love to have [B41/B42] Simple Overhaul: Traits and Occupations (SOTO) as a supported occupation mod!

Damn, forgot that I made this. Will update soon when I can

Thanks. I was thinking about adding support to SOTO and Mar's Traits and Occupations, and when I get time for it, I'll do it.

I wanted to thank you first of all for your extraordinary work on the mod. I was wondering if it would be possible to add, as an optional feature, a sub-mod that includes some additional occupations. I think it would be a fantastic expansion to enrich the gaming experience even further.

To clarify further, here’s the link to the reference:

I think it would be a fantastic expansion to enrich the gaming experience even further. Thank you in advance for taking the time to consider this request.

Use "No Starter Beta Pistol" mod. I don't know how to add a code to remove it myself. About the firefighter, the half mask is too common and fireman irl uses masks that cover all face when dealing with large fires.

you always spawn with a pistol fix

change gas mask on firefighter to the breathing mask thing
