GP40-2 LAWR No. 2003

Description
Based on some Aseprite shenanigans. Breaking away from the Kaibutsu Co. stuff and making a decent fictional with a less goofy color scheme.

Big thanks to YourAverageFoamer for providing the base mod (which is obviously a dependency.)

Los Angeles Western Railroad #2003 was one of the railroad's first EMD locomotives. Meant to replace the aging fleet of switchers it bought from numerous railroads, some of which were steam locomotives in service since the early 1940s, the first four GP40-2s were numbered 2001-2004 and put to work pulling the railroad's smaller freight trains.

Following the oil crisis during the Iran-Iraq war, LAWR converted two of these geeps (2003 and 2004) into a dual-mode unit designed for overhead electrification. These two were numbered 2003 and 2003B, and designated the GP40-2DM. They were tested on the railroad's "Highroller" line from Los Angeles to Los Vegas, and promptly put to work on mixed trains running the service. Although the GP40-2DM proved fairly successful, the locomotives were converted back to diesel power sometime in the late 90s.

LAWR #2003 spent a significant portion of 2023 in the railroad's Ghostcat shops, where it was repowered to meet tier 4 emission standards.

In 2024, LAWR reached out to Rapido Trains to produce scale models of the locomotive. Rapido declined, saying "Nah fam this ♥♥♥♥ is ass fr fr"
