Welcome
Welcome to the guide.

Did you log into the game after some time, only to find out all your gold, runes and the loot you hoarded is gone? We'll fix that in a few simple steps.
Get back your loot
First go to your Stash. Notice in the top left you should see a Dropdown menu:

Select the highest patch number from the Dropdown, in my case it's 1.1.

Congratulations, you found your LOOT!

But we're not done yet.
Get back your Gold and Runes
Now that you've selected the highest patch number from the Dropdown, your Stash should look something like this:

Notice there's now a new button in the top right of your Stash window. Hover your mouse over it, it will show this description:

Now you know what it does, so click the button.

Contragulations, you now have your Gold and Runes back!
Explanation
This game is ARPG. Some ARPG games have a mechanic called "Seasons" - for example Diablo 2, Path of Exile have them. Seasons refer to a period of a time before a RESET.

When a reset happens, everyone's characters, loot, gold, reputation, etc. from the current Season are removed, and a fresh Season begins. This is done to introduce new content, to reset ladder rankings (longest arena run, quickest character to level up, etc.), it gives a level playing field to all gamers, regardless of how much resources they previously hoarded.

Before patch 1.2 in Last Epoch, seasons were called "Cycle", basically Cycle = Season.

So, every time you create a new character, it belongs to a particular Season. When a Season ends, your old character gets removed from Season. But it would be silly to delete all your characters and progress and loot, so instead it gets moved into "Legacy". Legacy is identical game mode to Season in every possible way.

The dropdown shown in Stash represents all your loot from each Season.

The "REMOVE ONLY" red text means that you can withdraw an item from the old Season loot, but can't put it back in there, so you better have some stash tabs ready in your "Legacy" stash.
FAQ / Troubleshooting
I don't see any Dropdown in the top left of my Stash, what's up?

Dropdown only shows up in the Legacy game mode, so you can only see the Dropdown if your Character is also in the Legacy game mode.

You can tell if your character is in Season (Cycle) OR Legacy on the Character Selection screen:

In my Legacy stash, I have only one stash tab and pressing the merge button in the old stash doesn't fix it, what gives?
That's intended.

Basically if you never bought Stash tabs in Legacy game mode, you have to rebuy them. If you bought any Stash tabs in Season game mode, these will disappear with Season reset. The first 20 or so Stash tabs are cheap so it's not a big deal, but if you spent a LOT of Gold on Stash tabs...

Why isn't Gold/Runes/Reputation and Stash loot merged automatically?

That's a good fkin question. Why EHG?

I played in 1.0 and now I'm back, but I didn't touch my old stash from 1.0 or from 1.1. Which one should I merge?
You can merge both, in any order. Gold and Runes will simply stack and reputation will be set to whatever was your highest rank from the two seasons.

You can do them both, in any order. Gold and Runes get stacked all together, and Reputation will be set to whichever rank was your highest. Added to FAQ :)

Just came back and I have 1.0 and 1.1 untouched/unmerged. Do I just do 1.1 still or do I merge 1.0 first and then merge 1.1?
