Square Well

Description
Square images for the well to be nicely placed near floored tiles.

You can manually rename new image and rewrite original image with modded one so it can always work without loading a mod and for your older worlds since its just replacing original image.

Inside installed DF directory :

I love it, and I agree that polish is important. Would look forward to your future graphics addons, and maybe collection if you are interested in making one.

@notalmpyre Thank you but I got you exactly right. I just have strong opinion about that (especially for many modern releases) - I m on a side with normal people who buy released game and if feature, as known by developer can not be finished, thus absence of such feature should not affect and should not be visible for normal player who expect to get finished experience in released product rather than multiple year untold promise of such.

Don't get me wrong, the art is great and it fits quite well with the base game's graphics. This is the best feasible solution for modders, but I don't think it is for the developers.

@notalmpyre At first I came here in search of similar to yours 'solution' but i found only Bourbon's Dark Well where he described in the comments its not possible, so only thing is to change the spritesheet. My opinion if its not possible it shouldn't have been just empty space for years. I start playing recently and its one of the first thing i wanted to fix so i spent some time with a drawing tablet and made art fit to my liking. And it seems many people feel the same :D

You know, instead of changing the well to a square you could just add a floor using the same stone texture as the well. So you'd end up with a round well on a square stone base with a 1px dark border around it.

It does look nice, but I'm not sure "As it always should have been" is quite right. It would've been fine with some adjacency detection that continued surrounding floor tiles under it.
