Description
Lore: “Shields have failed.” An ensign on the bridge of a civilian militia ship called out. “Come about 120 degrees and target their engines. We’re not done with these pirate scum yet and we have to buy more time for passenger ship to get their warp engines back online.” The captain commanded. The ship jerked hard from another weapons impact. “Tactical control systems hit, we’ve lost automated weapons control.” Another officer called out. The deck jerked again and a rumble was felt on the bridge. “Hull breach on deck 3, forcefields are holding.” The captain cursed under his breath. “Sir, we’re detecting a rather potent energy signal approaching that just dropped out of high warp on the other side of the moon.” The ensign called out. “Captain we heard your distress call and are here to assist. You and the passenger ship need to swing around the moon and we’ll meet you halfway.” Came the voice over the comms. “I’m sorry but we can’t abandon them.” The captain spoke. “You’re not abandoning them captain, we’re all just regrouping. Trust us.” The unfamiliar voice told him. Out of options the captain nodded to the ensign who programmed the course and signaled the passenger ship to follower. The militia ship did its best to keep itself between the pirates and the passenger liner. When they rounded the moon they saw a massive ship on the view screen flanked by 2 fighters. The larger ship put itself between them and the pirates. “Fighters break formation attack pattern alpha.” Came the command from the carrier. The pirates soon realized their mistake and tried to dodge as the fighters strafed their hull, but it was too late. The Bepi opened fire shredding the lead pirate vessel and destroying 2 more before forcing the retreat of the survivor. “Captain what is that?” The ensign asked. The captain smirked. “Judging by the looks of it I’m going to guess the guys at the Jx skunk works have been busy.” He noted. “You would be correct captain. We’ll send a repair crew over to the passenger ship to get their warp engines back up then escort you all out of here. Well done.” The Bepi captain commended. True to his word the Bepi captain sent over a repair crew along with a medical team to treat the injured, then all ships were well on their way to a new destination.

Notes: The original Bepi design was one that I created years ago and was my first attempt at a larger ship. Originally it was going to just be a big gun boat, but I soon realized I needed a way to get my fighters to and from the other planets, so it was adapted into a carrier. Unfortunately the original Bepi line was rendered largely unusable by the hydrogen changes some years ago. As my ability to mod the game improved, I eventually created a 2125 refit of the Bepi which does well enough on its own and is also made from 2125 tech, but if I were to have built it today I would’ve done a lot of things differently. Within a year or so of the 2125 refit Warfare 2 was released introducing several of the weapon types we know today. Because of this and several other factors I wanted a modern gen 2 variant of the Bepi and thus we have the ship we see here.

The Bepi Gen 2 dreadnought carrier is meant to comfortably support 2 fighters and several crew members, in addition to the main crew of the ship itself. The ship sports a variety of weapon turrets on from gatlings, rockets, assault cannons, artillery, to 4 large BB turrets and a 2125 railgun turret. It also features 5 forward mounted static artillery guns as a callback to previous incarnations of the Bepi. The ship is capable of meeting threats head on or working with fighter support. It also features a robust auto-repair system to keep it in a fight much longer than normal. She’s capable of flying comfortably in atmo if needed. I’ve found for most maneuvering the ship handles better when moving at half speed of 50 m/s but can easily get up to the 100 m/s speed cap when necessary. If folks are looking for a dreadnought carrier then look no further.

Final notes: Ship comes loaded with hefty stock of ammo and various supplies in the armories, weapon racks, lockers and cargo bays for those who wish to spawn the ship in, as well as owner's manual in the captain's desk on the bridge. I left a few free use bits on the bridge as well incase there are extra overrides or such people wish to assign. Ship meant to comfortably support 2 fighters along with a couple extra members of their flight crew. can comfortably fly in atmo as well. For most maneuvers I think she handles better at half speed unless traveling. Should folks have issues with the build please let me know and I will do my best to correct them.
