正定阳和楼 Zhengding Yanghe Tower by 常山`白云

阳和楼位于正定城内燕赵南大街中段，楼七楹，单檐歇山顶，建在高敞的砖台上，两侧各有一座碑亭；楼檐面南正中悬“阳和楼”匾额，面北悬明崇祯年间名贤敬送的“广大高明”匾额；南宋理学家朱熹题写的“容膝”方石嵌放在楼上正中央，砖台跨街而建，如城门形式，东侧有阶梯可上下。台下有圆形拱门，左右各一，将行人车马分为上下道。
关于阳和楼确切的始建年代已难以考证。梁思成认为，从阳和楼的结构特点来看，它的建造当在宋代《营造法式》刊行后至少数十年，但远在明之前。
梁思成在《正定调查纪略》中写道：“在大街上横跨着拦住去路，庄严尤过于罗马君士坦丁的凯旋门。”
1947年，阳和楼主楼被拆毁。1966年，剩余的砖台和楼前的关帝庙被夷为平地。2017年，阳和楼在昔日的旧基址上复建完成。


Yanghe Tower is located in the middle of Yanzhao South Street in Zhengding City. It has seven rooms and a single-eaved hip roof. It is built on a high brick platform with a stele pavilion on each side. The plaque "Yanghe Tower" is hung in the middle of the eaves facing south, and the plaque "Guangda Gaoming" presented by famous scholars during the Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty is hung on the north. The square stone "Rongxi" inscribed by Zhu Xi, a Neo-Confucianist of the Southern Song Dynasty, is embedded in the center of the upper floor. The brick platform is built across the street, like a city gate, with stairs on the east side for going up and down. There are round arches under the platform, one on each side, dividing pedestrians and horses into upper and lower roads.
It is difficult to verify the exact construction date of Yanghe Tower. Liang Sicheng believes that judging from the structural characteristics of Yanghe Tower, it was built at least several decades after the publication of the "Construction Methods" in the Song Dynasty, but long before the Ming Dynasty.
Liang Sicheng wrote in his "Zhengding Investigation Notes": "It stands across the street, blocking the way, more majestic than the Arch of Constantine in Rome."
In 1947, the main building of Yanghe Tower was demolished. In 1966, the remaining brick platform and the Guandi Temple in front of the building were razed to the ground. In 2017, Yanghe Tower was rebuilt on the old site.
