All The Challenges

Description

All The Challenges

All The Challenges is a mod that adds an assortment of various customizable challenges, inspired by the challenges done by Youtubers like Wand of Sparking and Gungnir.

Some are based on challenges done before in videos, some are entirely unique and made up by me!

Activating and customizing challenges is extremely easy, all done through the mod's config.

To enable challenges, go to the config, navigate to the challenge(s) you want to activate, and after doing so, press "Save Config", "Back", and back in your Mods List, "Force Reload".

If you don't remember what they were originally set to, press "Restore Defaults". Keep in mind that only does it for whichever section you have open!

There are currently 46 Challenges, including:

Weapon Challenges:
- Disabling Melee, Ranged, Magic, and Summoner weapons
- Disabling or keeping enabled specific weapon categories;
- Shortswords, "Other Swords", Spears, Boomerangs, Yoyos, Flails for Melee,
- Bows, Guns, Launchers, Thrown, and "Other" for Ranged,
- Wands Magic Guns, Spell Books, "Other" for Magic,
- Whips, Minions, and Sentries for Summoner

And so this doesn't go on forever, here's a few standout challenges!

- 1 HP: Exactly as it sounds, you're limited at 1 HP.
- No Enemy Drops: Can be customized to include or exclude coins, prevents enemies from dropping loot!
- No Life Regen: Disables passive life regen.
- Enemy Life Regen: Enemies regenerate life, changes depending on their stats.
- Flipped Gravity: Gravity is flipped!

My personal favorite of the unique challenges, easily the most complex of them all, is the Midas challenge!

Everything you touch - blocks, items, weapons, coins - all turn to gold!

This means you have a very limited selection of items to deal with: either items that are made of pure gold, or items that have golden handles, and thus aren't converted.

To make it more playable and fun, torches turn into Gold Torches, and hooks into Gold Hooks. (This mod adds no content, so both are secretly converted items from the base game, but only when the challenge is enabled).
That list is a lot longer than you might expect, yet still very limited.

Here's some - but not all! - of the items available that fit this limitation.

In addition, there's support for any other mod that adds gold items! As long as the item has "gold" in the name, it's supported! Playing with other mods would probably make this challenge a lot more interesting.

Next is Meteor Apocalypse, another really cool one.

Meteors constantly rain down from the heavens, littering the surface of the planet.

This includes both small projectile meteors capable of killing both the player and NPCs/enemies, as well as genuine meteors that land throughout the world.

The limit for meteor landings is removed. There may be lag, but testing with a mid-end PC there was none.

Finally, there's the Aquatic Challenge.

I'm sure you've guessed - you now breath water instead of air!
The time for asphyxiation (running out of air water) is increased for gameplay reasons, same as speed of recovery.

The Gills Potion is converted to the Lungs Potion, Diving Helmet and Diving Gear (including upgrades) into the Undiving Helmet and Undiving Gear, and the Breathing Reed... still the Breathing Reed, just with water inside it!

In addition, different gameplay conditions change the speed of asphyxiation, like the type of biome the player is in as well as the weather.

There are a few more challenges than just these, but those are my favorite and the most signficant of them.

If you have ideas for challenges you'd like me to add, or think would be cool, I'd love to hear it! A lot of the ones in the mod now came from suggestions from friends.

The only exception for challenges are any that change world generation, as there's already a mod for that: see "Advanced World Generation" if you want to make challenges for things like that!

With gravity always reversed, you can negate fall damage by pressing w before hitting the ground, in my testing.

Also it would be nice if there were a few more seconds to get blocks

Also this mod is great

Challenge: Slime drops water (like lava slime drops lava).

@falingo thank you :)

massively underrated mod

Meteor Apocalypse could be a good start to a rework for getting meteorite.

Necropolis: Ghosts, Wraiths, and other undead can spawn almost anywhere, sometimes hostile book of skull projectiles fly across the screen (think Castlevania Medusa Heads).

The Snail: Snails are invulnerable and will instantly kill you if you touch them, they can also spawn from the rain event mentioned before if that's enabled as well.

???: Extremely rarely, a fake golden chest will spawn underground (distinguishable by it being slightly misshapen and pale), if the player attempts to open it a dungeon guardian spawns on the spot.

Arachnid Anarchy: Spider monsters can appear in many more places (such as Wall Creepers on the surface at night) and ALL of them can use the Web Spit attack.

Cloudy with a chance of chaos: Weather is no longer random and set to a strict schedule where it is clear weather for a few days, then it starts to drizzle, then rain, then it starts to become a thunderstorm of maximum intensity where it starts to rain hazardous projectiles and monsters as well as some other random nonsense.

Ink slimes: Slimes (and squids I guess) explode into paintballs upon death that inflicts Blackout briefly and also paints tiles in an area according to the color of the creature that died (blue slime->blue paint)

@Carbine I could add that as another option to it, there's a few limitations (sometimes melee weapons are projectiles with built in damage) but I'll see what I can do!

I don't know if it's possible, but could you make melee items able to swing but not attack? I had to re-enable melee weapons so I could get hay using the scythe.

@Carbine Thanks, I just uploaded it a few hours ago :) That was definitely the main idea for it, come up with cool challenges that people would like watching Youtubers do, but some I think would just be cool to play with! "All Biomes Always" for example isn't very challenging, but it makes the gameplay really interesting and unpredictable.
