US Loc | EMD GP40

This mod contains a variety of EMD GP40*-2 locomotives. This mod includes rebuilt versions of the original EMD GP40, which was released in 1968.

The GP40FH-2 were upgrades down by Morrison Knudsen in 1987. They combine the cab and frame of the GP40 with the cowl of a EMD F45. They were used by New Jersey Transit and Metro-North. Today these units are still in use by Metro-North on their west of Hudson Services.

The GP40PH-2 was a rebuild by New Jersey Transit on their ex-CNJ GP40PH units in 1991. These units were rebuilt in house by New Jersey Transit as GP40PH-2Bs. Currently operated by New Jersey Transit and MARC who bought one locomotive in 2019 as part of a deal after NJT had loaned them several locomotives.

The GP40-2H was a rebuild from EMD GP38 and GP40s; adding a EMD 645 prime mover and a seperate HEP generator since it was upgrading freight locomotives. In 2017 they were overhauled by National Railway Equipment and reclassified as GP40-3H and are used by CTRail on the Hartford Line.

The GP40MC is a rebuild of 25 originally GMD GP40-LWs built for Canadian National in 1973. They were rebuilt in 1997 by AMF Technotransport for passenger use.

Within this mod there are 2 varieties a GP40PH-2; and a GP40MC as these have visual differences.
