Auto Equip Companions

Description
This mod updates your companions equipment based on the equipment your group has. Any time you close the inventory screen without hitting cancel your companions will do a quick look through your items and improve anything they can. You'll also get a little reminder they found better equipment.

The UI for this is on the inventory screen. You can turn of AEC for any companion or any slot you don't want changed.
Unfortunately the layer doesn't allow me to put it behind popups, so it does get in the way with viewing info. So you will want to use the hide toggle in the top right to hide the UI when not changing it.

Companions decide which equipment is better by using the total armor for armor pieces and the item value for everything else. It will however keep the item type and whether it's usable on horse (if companion is on a horse). This is an area I plan to improve, but as a convenience mod is generally correct enough. If this is resulting in an item change you don't like just turn it off for that item.

If you ever have any issues feel free to bother me on steam or on discord. I won't be bothered by you reaching out.

It does do horse and saddle. It's by default off for that just because I would get annoyed that new characters always got made into horsemen when I didn't necessarily want that. Use the button I added in the top right to show the UI and turn on auto-equip.

I actually can't recall if you need to also put a horse in the slot or not.

As for banners I wrote this before Banners were a thing. I can probably make it so it upgrades banners if exact same type is available. And definitely on my todo list.

As for open slots. This won't be until I have a longer plan to add presets. As otherwise I wouldn't know what to put in an empty slot. If I just put the best you'd get stuff like 3 swords which isn't exactly helpful.

First off, i want to give you a big thank you. I appreciate anyone that works to make something that helps me out. I was wondering if there is a way to fill all companion slots with this. it currently doesn't fill horse, saddle, banner, or open weapon slots. thanks again.

New Update. Mainly fixing a few crashes that occurred with other mods.

Troop Sorting was causing a crash. I fixed that and tested it works for me now.

I also had some reports of crashes with people that had a ton of equipment mods. Rather than test 100 equipment mods. I added more error handling so it should at least stop crashing when it hits those errors. As well as post a message that says what item had an issue. If you hit those feel free to let me know the mod that is having issues.

That's a good thought Echo. I'll add that in my next update. I'm working on adding a menu with some settings right now and I'll include that in the change.

is there way make NPC don't use some gear I have? maybe make NPC ignore gear that is locked.

@Pax I've learned there is a conflict with the Troop sorting mod. That has a similar crash behavior. I'm going to look into that when I find time.

Tried it, game crashed when I hit the arrow next to an equipped weapon. No issues uninstalling, so at least it seems safe to try it and see if it works for others.
