Anzu Experimental Frigate

"A one of a kind prototype next generation frigate, the Anzu was originally intended to be the start of a brand new line of semi-autonomous patrol and defense ships. However this goal quickly became nothing more than a fantasy as the many troubles associated with developing the ships autonomous functions became apparent. The project was then shelved to divert funding to more promising projects like the Mass Production Battleship Initiative that would spawn the very successful Baron class Pocket Battleship. However before funding was cut the team working on it had already produced the first manned system test bed prototype, a vessel meant to test the design of the ship itself without its autonomous function. Seeing some promise to the design as a manned vessel to bolster the APF fleet they petitioned the government to review the design. However as the brand new Damora Class Destroyer was already entering service and boasted similar specs it was rejected once again. The ship would not see much use until the outbreak of war when it finally got its chance to shine. Hastily given a crew and made ready for combat the Anzu joined many other APF ships in the defense of their home and quickly set herself apart for her unique capabilities. The Anzu had a rather strange armament for a ship of her size, being equipped with 3 railguns in her "barrel" which made up half the ships length. Besides these deadly railguns she was equipped with only 2 gatlings for point defense. While being a conventional crewed ship she retained many features intended to streamline her for autonomous use, these include an Ion Propulsion system as opposed to the standard hydrogen seen on most other APF ships, small size, and large antenna/radar arrays. Thanks to her small size and high thrust to weight ratio the Anzu can execute deadly hit and run attacks, firing all 3 of her railguns into a target before performing a hard burn away from the target escaping unscathed. Later in her life she would be upgraded, removing one of the bottom mounted radars for a new experimental advanced targeting pod that combined laser and infrared tracking to detect and track targets for the main battery of railguns from extreme range, greatly enhancing the Anzu's capability as a sort of sniper rifle of a ship."
