As Dr. Kleiner's speech echoes across the empty streets of City 17 - a graveyard of a once human city - a dying Citadel stands tall in the horizon, burning so brightly at its top, it resembles a new crimson star in the night sky.

As Humanity cheers the prospect of achieving its long-desired freedom from their Malefactors, hope and anxiety sink into their hearts, as they now await for the arrival of retaliation.

Hey folks!

This is a fun experiment, an alternative version of the save Citadel - Full Interior, that I made a few weeks ago.

This save reimagines the Citadel during its dying phase as you play in Episode One.
Most details were made similar to the ones you see in game, while others were made with creative liberties.

It is being posted as a Save, which has a better FPS performance.

Citadel (Exterior)

There is an entirely made and decorated exterior, as well as complementary details.

Railways: Connected to the three sides of the Citadel, I reimagined them similar to the Mechanical Walls: capable of moving on their own, powered by the core itself. As the core collapses, so do City 17's infrastructure.

Walls: Surrounding the entire Citadel, this imposing mechanical façade used to protect the Citadel from ground attacks.
As the Citadel burns from the top, debris fall and hit the Watchtowers, bringing down the bridges as well.

Citadel (Interior)

There is an entirely made interior, and you will find Elevators that help you navigate more easily.
They also give you really cool views of the interior.

Earth Administrator's Office: As once Dr. Breen's office, it is now a shadow of what was once a luxurious location at the top of the World.

Dark Fusion Reactor: As the reactor collapses into singularity, it causes severe vibrations and shockwaves across the Citadel, collapsing the floors below as far as deep.

Airwatch Landing Area: What once was the main center for the Combine Airwatch, has had most of its infrastructure destroyed. Debris from the now exposed roof have opened a crater in the center of the sector.

Pod Storage: A large section of the Citadel, once dedicated to the storage, transportation and maintenance of the pods, now has its floors collapsing as the Citadel reverberates and vibrates.

Railway Control Center: Most of the debris from above hit the railways, causing the derailment of the trains and the demolition of the sector.

Core: What once powered the entire Citadel is now a dangerously unstable core, at the brink of a second resonance cascade.

More Details

Sky: The sky in this save was made by mixing two great sky dupes together:

- Sky Episode 1 Beginning, by Drunk Headcrab
Addon link: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1532332077

- Blood Moon (sky effect), by Father Andrew
Addon link: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1797096069

Height: According to my ultra high tech calculations, this Citadel has an approximate height of 640 meters (0.4 miles). In other words, although it is a quite tall dupe, it is still FAR from the real estimated height of the in-game Citadel.
Sources vary, but its height may go from 2.5 km up to 8km (1.5 up to 5 miles).

Entities: This big boy has 5121 entities.

Hey
At the moment I will give a pause at Gmod to focus on other real life projects and works, but for a next project in the game, probably it would be one of these ideas:

- A save of HL2 - Episode 2 Citadel (when it is in its latest stage, pretty much demolished)

- A save of the Borealis ship (a replica of it, with both exterior and interior)

- A save of a combine Dyson Sphere (probably with a mechanism for movable sections)

- A dupe of a mechanical Solar System (also called Orrery)

@Drunk Headcrab
Hey, glad you like it!

I can't really express just how much your sky dupe of Episode 1 made the entire difference, it's really good. Without the orange sky, it really felt it was missing something, and the Citadel didn't look as cool and imposing

thanks once again, glad you like it

I don't know if I'm going to make it soon, but it's an idea I'm really considering because it would be awesome

Like a trilogy for the Citadel: a save for when it was at its peak, then a save of its dying phase (Episode 1) and then its ruined phase (Episode 2)
