Overview

From the deserts of Revakol deep within a world known as Laevatain, Nonari Cemurra appears! With her katars in hand combined with her mastery over martial arts, she's quite the threat on the battlefield!

Nonari is a highly mobile brawler character, entirely focused on hopping around the map to rush opponents down and earn swift and efficient takedowns. She's very straight-forward, lacking any sort of setplay or stage control like most other Rivals of Aether characters. Her moveset is primarily influenced by Zero Suit Samus from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with slight inspirations taken from other characters and sources here and there. She lacks any sort of projectile but has a number of very strong burst options and tools to get in on opponents.

Nonari boasts very solid framedata and decent range for a character of her archetype, due to the use of her trusty katars. Nonari excels in offstage-play and edgeguarding, being able to keep opponents offstage for a long period of time if played correctly. Her tools also allow her to utilize a variety of very solid kill-confirms, especially after entering Astral Self. If Nonari is able to close the distance and keep up the pressure, it can be very difficult to stop her. However, as stated, she lacks any sort of projectile, and she somewhat struggles to juggle opponents, if you are able to out-box her, she can greatly struggle.

Gimmick: Astral Self

When Nonari reaches 100%, she will tap into the powers of her amulet and let her Astral Self assist her in combat. When taking the Astral Self form, all of Nonari's specials gain new properties until she is eliminated. This is when she's at her most dangerous, but it only comes into play once she's on her last legs, so it's also when she's at her most vulnerable state. The enhancements granted by the Astral Self form will be listed in the descriptions of the specials themselves below.

Neutral Special: Flurry of Blows

Nonari's neural special is a hit-grab, akin to Mii Brawler's Flashing Mach Punch. This move will halt Nonari's momentum as she kicks in front of her three times, on a hit, Nonari will let loose a series of kicks before one strong, final hit, launching opponents upwards. When enhanced by her Astral Self, Nonari will burst forward instead of kicking the air in front of her, the move becoming much more similar to Mii Brawler's Onslaught. Similarly to Onslaught, this move will put Nonari into free-fall if missed.

Forward Special: Stunning Strike

Nonari's forward special has her take a step forward, stabbing her katar from low to high into her opponent. This move has rather low knockback, and may not seem like much at first, but the move has an interesting property. When you land this move on an opponent who is currently in hitstun, this move will stun them in place. In the air, this move turns into a spike, sending opponents down and away from you with the same stunning property. This is the strongest kill-confirm tool in Nonari's kit, and it may seem rather familiar to some. When enhanced by her Astral Self, the stunning property of the move becomes enhanced, allowing it to stun opponents regardless of whether or not they're in hitstun.

Up Special: Crescent Cut

Nonari's up special will have her preform a faster-that-light uppercut, moving in a flash of astral power. This move can be angled upwards or horizontally to change the trajectory of the attack. Additionally, the move has a strong sweetspot at the very end of the uppercut if you're able to catch your opponent in the proper position to land it. When enhanced by her Astral Self, the sweetspot becomes stronger, and the move gains an additional hitbox right before the uppercut. If this hitbox lands, it will drag the opponent directly into the sweetspot at the end of the attack. This is a very devastating kill move.

Down Special: Step of the Wind

Nonari's down special is similar to Zero Suit Samus' Flip Jump. Nonari will jump in an arc, while she is preforming this move, she is immune to projectiles. Additionally, once she begins descending she gains a spiking hitbox on her foot, and she becomes fully-actionable, allowing her to cancel out of the move at any time from then on. When enhanced by her Astral Self, the first few frames of this move will grant her full-intangibility, and will allow her to act out of the move immediately, instead of requiring her to wait until she starts descending. This move can define Nonari's neutral, especially when she's in her Astral Self state.
