12,500 Gallon Tank Cars

Description
What's in the pack?
These cars are modeled after 12,500 gallon cars built by General American from the 1920's through 1940's. They're ideal for a steam to diesel transition era setting. The pack also includes some three-compartment cars with triple domes which actually have three separate compartments in game. All cars feature functional hazmat placards with warnings appropriate for their paint schemes (or blank for non-hazmat paint schemes). The placards change automatically for empty cars. As usual with my packs, this one includes generic colorable versions (both single and triple dome) and a randomizer which mixes in both the single and triple dome skins for variety. In total there are 45 different skins. There are a handful for various railroads, but the majority are lettered as privately owned or leased cars as the majority of real tank cars were. Many of these have colorful "billboard" schemes designed to advertise the business they worked for.
Railroad Owned (all single dome):
  • Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe (Water Service)
  • Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe (Solvent)
  • Canadian Pacific
  • Pennsylvania
  • Southern Pacific
  • Southern Pacific (Diesel Fuel)
  • Southern Pacific (Gasoline)
  • Southern Pacific (Liquid Sugar)
  • Union Pacific
  • Western Pacific
Yes, that's four Southern Pacific skins. Unlike most railroads SP owned a sizeable tank car fleet and was even in the business of leasing their cars.
As for the non-railroad-owned cars, the single domes include:
  • A.E. Staley Mfg Co.
  • Baker's Chocolate
  • British American Oil Co.
  • Catalin Corporation
  • Champion Oils
  • Conoco
  • Deep Rock
  • Dow Chemical
  • Dupont
  • GATX
  • Globe Soap Co.
  • Goodyear
  • Gulf States Creosoting Co.
  • Hercules Powder Co.
  • Hooker Chemical
  • Humble Petroleum
  • Koppers Chemical
  • Philadelphia Quartz Co.
  • Shell Chemical
  • Socony Vacuum Mobile
  • Texaco
  • Tidewater Oil
  • Union Starch and Refining
  • US Army Transportation Corps
  • Warren Petroleum\
And the triple dome cars:
  • Celanese
  • Champlin Refining
  • Cook Paint & Varnish Co.
  • Dupont Dulux Finishes
  • GATX
  • Gibson Wine Co.
  • Mid-Continent Petroleum
  • Pittsburgh Coke & Chemical Co.
Stats:
Top Speed: 65 mph
Capacity: 13 (single dome), 4 x 3 compartments (triple dome, 1 less total capacity lost to the dividing spaces between compartments!)
Cargo Types: Crude, Oil, Fuel
Weight: 27 tons
Available: 1920-1980

It does look a little weird, but it's supposed to be that way. The stripe on the ATSF tank cars didn't go all the way around, it was a half stripe at the end of the car to the right as viewed from either side: Model examples [rrmodelcraftsman.com]

the "ATSF" 100510 solvent car texture does not mirror properly
