RMS Empress of Ireland (v2)

Here is the Empress of Ireland (and her sister, Empress of Britain) of the Canadian Pacific Steamship company.

Both ships were built in Scotland to serve the route between Liverpool and Quebec. Both were at the time, the fastest ships making transatlantic runs to Canadian ports. The most famous of the 2, Empress of Ireland, would be known for her sinking on May 29th, 1914 when the Norwegian collier SS Storstad struck the ship on her starboard side in the St Lawrence River. Empress of Ireland sank in 14 minutes, killing 1,012 out of the 1,477 onboard, making her Canada's worst maritime disaster. On April 26th, 1912, just a few weeks after the RMS Titanic sank, Empress of Britain collided with an iceberg, but only caused minor damage to the ship. In July that same year, she would ram and sink the British collier Helvetia in the St Lawrence River in a much similar fashion to what would happen to her sister and the SS Storstad. Empress of Britain would serve as a troopship during WW1, carrying 110,000 troops to the Dardanelles, Egypt and India, and transporting US and Canadian troops across the Atlantic. In December of 1915, she would collide with another steamship and the French transport ship Djuradjura, sinking both of them. Empress of Britain continued regular passenger service after the war, being renamed Montroyal in 1924, and would be broken up for scrap in 1930.
