@Dahak yes, this is the way. He has a build tutorial on his youtube channel

I assume to hook these up you build the stations separately, then set them to transport mode and maneuver them into place with another ship, connect them and then take them out of transport? It was telling me I couldn't build them as needed since it was too close to another station, so transport is the only other thing I could think of.
