"Realism" mod - super secret test version

Description
First of all, I am still not sure whether I am going to fully come back to this mod. My neighbours were being extremely noisy this weekend, so doing anything productive (that means activities other than modding) was impossible, hence this stripped-down version of the mod.

Second of all, this is a test version, meaning that currently the Empire, Vampire Counts, Cathay and Bretonnia are the only affected races and playing a campaign is frankly inadvisable. I don’t have time to test some mechanical solutions by playing battles, so I decided to delegate this task to you.

Thirdly, this iteration of the mod is quite different from the old one. The previous one simply adjusted the vanilla system, while in this version I attempted to create something from the ground up (but still within the game’s framework, obviously).

What are the exact changes?

1. Units:

I scrapped the default unit stats and assigned new ones according to a series of complex and completely arbitrary mathematical formulas. I am not going to paste them here, but basically hit points, melee attack frequency, general and weapon stats, melee attack and defence, unit cost, etc., have been standardized. Additionally, each unit was assigned to one of 14 (from -2 to 11) ‘classes’ that signify its training. Each class has a modifier that influences the aforementioned stats. I made up some additional rules, but I am not going to bore you with the details.

2. Armour:

The amount of base damage that is being blocked by armour is equal to 90-100% of its value. Weapons with armour piercing properties are rather rare.

3. Morale:

Morale system should be oriented towards inflicting quick shocks, but units that are not chased down are likely to come back after the initial effect wears off.

4. Other:

Base and min. hit chance are now equal to 5 and max. is 100. Armoured constructs, such as tanks, are impervious to small arms fire, so now you have to actually use artillery to take them down (or you can try to bludgeon them to death). Chariots deal only charge and collision damage. Fatigue is more important, there are, for now, two unit formations. Retinues have been added. I mean, if you’re reading this then you probably already know the intent of the mod, so I am not going to list every single thing.

Final notes

If I have the time, then I’ll slowly add other races, however it is not a promise. For now, I’d like to ask you for your thoughts about the general, updated concept of the battles. Suggestions are, of course, welcome. Also, any significant campaign changes are off the table until the battles will have been polished, and until the game will have stopped recieving large updates that screw me out of my free time.

@DarkStar yeah dude I know you from the discord there:D It´s just that Realism was in a more "ready to play" state

Thanks. I actually hope that the end will come soon, as mods won’t have to be updated after each completely unnecessary dlc.

@SaveThePandas check out the Rebirth mod for WH2. I think you'll enjoy their work, its WIP but the empire is about complete and can be played.

It has medieval 2 recruitment, a somewhat similar unit disengagement as the pre Rome 2 games, shogun 2 battles styles, general bodyguards, etc.

I agree with savethepandas. The realism mod was a work of art. I gradually lost interest in the game after you stopped working on it. Im glad you're back at it, good luck! I hope you see it through even if at the end of WH3s milking cycle.

Wow, thanks

Your Realism mod is hands down the best mod for any warhammer total war out there. I will probably ever only play WH3 again after the mod is back, even if it takes time

Hah, your enthusiasm is quite heartening.
