RAF Hawker Hunter world speed record version

Description
RAF Hawker Hunter

The Hawker Hunter WB188 was a specially modified Hunter Mk.3 that broke the world air speed record on 7 September 1953, flown by Squadron Leader Neville Duke. Painted in a striking red color and fitted with a more powerful Rolls-Royce Avon engine and a pointed, streamlined nose, the aircraft reached a speed of 727.63 mph (1,170.9 km/h) over Littlehampton on England’s south coast. This achievement marked a major milestone for British aviation and demonstrated the cutting-edge performance of post-war jet technology.
