Description
A: "Somehow I keep thinking about a gun in CSO. The name is Vulcan or something..."
B: "Oh yeah... I think I have a bad feeling about this..."
A: "I think you're right, hehehe... How about making that gun appear on L4D2...?"
B: "Ah sh*t... How far will you contamine L4D2 with fantasy & futuristic weapons that don't belong to L4D2...?"
A: "Heheheheh... You know, there's something like 'the calm before the storm'. This is still also the 'calm', but the 'storm' is yet to come... & the 'storm' should bring some balance to the 'calm', maybe..."


So, this "M60 with Laser Bullets" mod was inspired by "Vulcan Series" on CSO (now it's named "Counter Strike: Nexon" or something). There's a machine gun series for this Vulcan series. Back then I ever used this, but not as often as Skull & Balrog series as the performance & dps were the worst of all those 3 series, with Skull & Balrog series almost equal in ranks, depending on which guns are used & which zombies boss are fought. I only remember that this Vulcan machine gun shot laser, & as I also ever made similar mod with laser like "Superman's Disciples", so I decided to make this one. However, this one is a "sealed version", as this one doesn't have the rocket launcher feature that the original Vulcan machine gun has. However, if you want such rocket launcher, you can combine this with the "M203 Series" for m60, though it becomes a GL instead of rocket launcher :D .


List of features available on "m60 with laser bullets.txt" cfg file:
  1. M60 Laser User: Which type of survivor can use this feature (bots/ players/ all).

  2. M60 Laser Damage: How much the damage per 0.2 second is. Minimum damage is 1, max is no limit.

  3. Laser Extra Effect When Hit: When enabled, the laser triggers a special effect when it hits a zombie. The value controls the type of effect.

  4. Burning Laser: When enabled, the laser burns zombies.


  5. M60 Laser Shot Chance: The chance for the laser triggered on each shot. It has 1 second of cooldown before the next laser is shot. Min value= 0 (basically a normal m60 lol), max= 100 (100% chance on each shot)

  6. Laser Color: This consists of 3 different numbers representing RGB colors. All 3 numbers must be filled in order to prevent unwanted bugs on the laser color, & the formats must be like the examples below. Examples:
    LaserColor= 255 0 0 (Red Laser).
    LaserColor= 255 255 0 (Yellow Laser).
    LaserColor= 255 50 0 (Orange Laser).
    LaserColor= 255 0 255 (Purple Laser)
    Etc...


Mechanisms of "M60 with Laser Bullets":
  • The laser shot is triggered when shooting with m60.

  • The chance for laser shot is controlled by "M60 Laser Shot Chance". It has 1 second of cooldown before the next laser shot. For examples, if you set the value to 10, m60 has 10% to fire a laser shot during shooting. if you set it to 100, each shot has 100% chance to trigger laser shot, but it has 1 second of cooldown for each laser shot (if you keep shooting with this 100% chance, you basically have a m60 that keeps shooting laser nonstop).

  • When triggered, the laser is active for 1 second & deals damage every 0.2 second (total of 5 damage hits in 1 second). When still active, laser will follow player's crosshair.

  • The laser deals 2 kinds of damage, "Basic Damage" & "Custom Damage".

  • "Basic Damage" always deals 1 damage on anything, & this can hurt survivor teammates too, but the damage is not registered as a friendlyfire.

  • "Custom Damage" deals damage based on "M60 Laser Damage". The damage of this one is registered to the shooter. Survivor teammates are immune to this damage.

  • As common infected are also weak to laser aside from burn & explosion damage, they will die instantly when hit by laser even if it only deals 1 damage (hardcoded by L4D2).

  • The laser can pierce through common infected. So, basically the laser shot is like a sniper bullet for m60.

  • The laser can pierce through riot zombie's armor.

  • The laser can't pierce through objects/ special infected & tank, so the special infected or zombies behind the targeted special infected/ tank won't get hit by the laser.

  • Objects (non-zombie) take damage only once when shot for the first time by laser instead of continuous damage after shot.

  • As objects can take damage, this can also damage custom bosses/ enemies in custom campaigns.


B: "So, isekai-ing some super heroes are not enough, now weapons from other games were isekai-ed too, huh?"
A: "As long as it's fun, heheheheh..."
B: "What's next, huh...? Another laser gun?"
A: "I left hunting rifle & scout without any modifications for certain reasons..."
B: "Ah... Don't tell me......"
A: "I think Thunderbolt Sniper from CSO looks fun... Heheheheh..."

NOTES:
  • The laser shot on the 1st person view will look weird as if it comes from player's eyes, but it's shot quite normally from the gun on 3rd person view. Probably it's just a matter of gun position on weapon skin on 1st person, as L4D2 doesn't put it in the bottom center but the corner.
  • The gib effects on the animated previews were from "Gore Mode" feature on the cfg file of my other mod, "Throwable Melee". This "Laser M60" mod doesn't gib common.
