French Navy 59S

Le Compass, avion bimoteur, biplace, subsonique, d'entrainement et notamment d'entrainement aux appontages, avec une queue en V, bon ok avec des gouvernes de profondeur aussi mais chut. En plissant, très fort, des yeux ça pourrait vaguement faire un Fouga Magister. Et ça tombe bien, j'avais pas de livrée pour m'entrainer à apponter dans Nuclear Option.

Voilà donc une livrée pour le Compass inspirée des Fouga Zéphyr, la version navalisée du Fouga Magister, de la flottille 59S de la Marine Nationale. La flottille 59S est actuellement inactive puisque officiellement dissoute en 1997. Elle avait à charge la qualification à l'appontage des futurs pilotes embarqués de l'aéronavale et était dotée de Zéphyr, d'Etendard IV puis de Super-Etendard. Les pilotes français sont aujourd'hui formés et qualifiés aux États-Unis par l'US Navy sur T-45 Goshawk.

The Compass, a twin engine, two seater, subsonic, training aircraft and particularly a carrier recovery training aircraft, with a V tail (and elevators ok, hush). If you squint a little, okay maybe a lot, you could vaguely mistake it for a Fouga Magister. And that is good enough for me since I needed a livery to go with my own carrier recovery training in Nuclear Option.

So here is a livery for the Compass inspired by the Fouga Zéphyr, the navalized variant of the Fouga Magister, of flotilla 59S of the French Navy. The flotilla currently stands inactive as it was officially dissolved in 1997. The flotilla was responsible for the training and qualification flights of pilots of French Navy's Air Arm in regards to carrier recovery operations. It was equipped with Zéphyr, Etendard IV and later Super-Etendard. French navy pilots are now training and qualified in the United States by the US Navy on T-45 Goshawk.
