The children hiding indoors will be no safer, because the rats shoot through walls, casually violating the laws of physics for the sole purpose of ending innocent life. The only small mercy is that they are incapable of reproducing, as their own kind is not exempt from the indiscriminate carnage that follows in their wake.
The day I get a manhunter pack of these things is the day that I pack up and leave - it's the rats' colony now.

Legitimately an apex predator, they gun down anything within sight without mercy, often landing precise double-taps that can easily down unarmored pawns. They do not stop firing when downed, nor do they spare downed creatures from their onslaught. I spawned about ten of them around a thrumbo and watched them coldly execute it by firing squad while it meekly accepted its fate because the shots don't actually count as the rat attacking. If, in your hubris, you try to tame these creatures for your own use(doable with a high quality shield belt and armor) you will be faced with the cruel reality: the rats will not - cannot - stop shooting, and will reward your hospitality by performing a flawless mozambique drill on your hapless colonists.

man I saw one of those bigger rimworld playing youtubers using a mod I worked on (the grimworld vehicles) and that made me kinda happy
also Juniper an artist turned vtuber is playing rimworld all week so Im hoping I see someone I worked on.
