Speculum-class cargo hauler

The Speculum-class (meaning Mirror in Latin) is a medium capacity cargo hauler based on a mirror design. With identical halves, the ship operates the same moving forwards or backwards, and side to side. Two mining lasers mounted on the side engine pods allow for the maximum mining reach, while the manipulator beams keep the crew safe inside the craft while collecting mined resources. The ship isn't the fastest, and without a hyperdrive it is restricted to its home system, but despite this it is able to undertake medium mining tasks easily.

The Speculum-class might not be the fastest or flashiest ship in the system, but its efficiency at its job can't be understated. With engine pod mounted mining lasers and matter manipulators for maximum efficiency, even a couple of ships of the class can easily mine a whole asteroid field.
