Sector GPS v1.1

Description
Now UPDATED to v1.1
==================

Sector GPS is a way to keep from getting lost in Space Engineers, allowing you to easily know your location within the playing area at all times, and a simple to understand display that breaks the playing field down in to one Kilometer cubic sectors.

The GPS becomes active on any Radio Antenna that starts with the letters GPS. And now with v1.1, you can also use .GPS, XYZ and .XYZ (see version update below for details.)

The sample displayed in the Thumbnail image shows the following display:
.GPS [<<<18s 3w>> 3u>>] nw/u [335+32]
or
GPS [<<<18214s 3397w>> 3134u>>] nw/u [335+32]

The Sector location above is displayed within the square brackets [ ].

It shows that the location sector is currently:
18 South, 3 West and 3 Up from the center sector [0n 0e 0u]

The arrows on each side of the values indicate the speed of travel along that axis.
One arrow < > equals a speed greater than 1 meter per second.
Two arrows << >> equals a speed greater than 30 meters per second.
Three arrows <<< >>> equals a speed greater than 70 meters per second.

Above:
<<<18s means you are 18 Km's South from the center, traveling greater than 70 m/s in the North direction, towards the center.
3w>> means you are 3 Km's West from the center, traveling greater than 30 m/s in the West direction, away from the center.
3u>> means you are 3 Km's above the center, traveling greater than 30 m/s in the upward direction, away from the center.

The indicator after the location: nw/u [335+32] indicates quickly that the nose of the ship is pointing Northwest, and Up. More accurately, the nose is pointing at 335 degrees from the direction North in a clockwize direction, which means really that your nose is pointing 25 degrees to the left of North, or 10 degrees to the right of tru Northwest, and the nose is pitched up 32 degrees from the level plane.

Using this GPS, you can rotate your ship around until you can figure out which way you're pointing, and which way is up, then thrust in the desired direction you wish to travel.

Using .XYZ, the same display above would show as:
.XYZ [<<<-18 +3>> +3u>>] [-X +Y +Z] [335+32]
or
XYZ [<<<-18214s +3134>> +3397>>] [-X +Y +Z] [335+32]

NOTE: The compass displayed on the right is oriented according to the first landing gear placed. Check the pivot point, and the green line should always be forward, while the red line is to the right, and blue is up. I've noticed that some of the in-game ships are not oriented correctly, and the compass is on the wrong access, and turned 90 degrees. (The large blue ship, and the yellow rescue ship.) Other ships, such as the large red ship, and the small ships are oriented correctly.

v1.1 update
=========

As requested, I have added an XYZ display option into the GPS function.
There are 4 different options now available for viewing the GPS coordinates in different ways.

Use GPS to view the coordinates in the original way, but instead of displaying Kilometer sectors, the coordinates have been changed to Meters. (This is so that anyone using the MOD will recognize the change, and hopefully come back into the workshop to see how to work the new options.)

Use .GPS with a period in front, and the display will be as it was originally, with the 1 Kilometer sector blocks.

Use XYZ to view the coordinates in their true X Y Z format, similar to GPS, in that the measurements are in Meters.

Use .XYZ with a period in front, to display the X Y Z format in cubic Kilometers. Note, using this .XYZ format does not make an adjustment at the 0 origin, so sector +0 will be from 0 to 1000, and sector -0 will be from <0 to -1000.

If you like it, please come back and click the thumbs-up icon to rate it. :)

Any chance getting an option to have the output writen to an LCD panel? Would be nice to be able to configure it to use either the hud, lcd, or both.

FIXED... The most recent release created an ambiguous reference to IMyTerminalBlock as it's now defined in both Sandbox.ModAPI and in Sandbox.ModAPI.Ingame. Had to add qualifiers to specify which one to use.

The mod is a very simple one. There's nothing coded that would change the range at which a ship can be detected by an antenna. However, with the latest release today, it appears the GPS mod is not working at all anymore. Even after turning the block on now, it still says ".GPS (off)". :(

The server Vanilla Deluxe uses this and it seems there is a fairly detrimental bug in the mod. It sometimes displays the location antennas from hundreds of kilometers away, despite what their range is set to. This problem being very scary on a PVP server where hiding in Deep Space is pretty much your first line of defense. Suddenly having your EXACT position broadcast to an entire server is....... bad.

To be honest, I haven't tried it in the massive world scenario yet. I play most of the games on my server (so it keeps running and refining when I'm not around.) But the game still had too many bugs to be playable at the moment, so I'm continuing to wait. (Bugs like not being able to respawn into the rescue ship, when I have the option to not delete the respawn ships enabled. And when drilling, the rocks start moving and defying gravity on there own, and they sink into the procedurally generated asteroids like quicksand until they disappear. Really weird stuff.)

Glad you found your way home VELOCITY! :)

Thank you for this mod. I went on a pirating tour (hunting some mining carriages) and I got lost because I forgot to set up a beacon at my base, my only solution was to coordinate the ship the right way with the GPS and after not very long time I got back home.

does this work with the new massive worlds (and the new cluster coordinate system)?

OK THANKS!
