Description
The Hammerhead Gunship by Aegis Dynamics is a dedicated fire support platform for fleets, focusing down fighters or providing planetary bombardment capabilities during wartime operations.

This is not a 1:1 replica. I took some creative liberties because of the medium and had to make some minor sacrifices due to not wanting to use any subgrids. Despite this it's fully survival-friendly, retains its recognizable features, and did not fail to include any of its interior - save for 2 minor engineering rooms that were simply moved into the main structure instead of being removed. It is capable of 0.2g's before needing forwards thrust to stop its descent, but could be easily retrofitted with more upwards thrust to sustain more - doing so just ruins the aesthetic so I opted not to.

:) I hope you enjoy!

I look forward to building this very cool replica but as noted, will need to make some modifications so it can land and launch in atmosphere. I do think I'll upgrade the four side turrets to quad ball auto-cannon turrets to better fill the role of dealing with fighters. Still, awesome build, I love it!

Mixing thrust types is simply superior for survival, since you can increase thrust without lowering your hydrogen delta-V. It also allows you basic maneuvering capabilities when you're out of fuel.

It is not atmo-capable, I said this in the description. There are, however, places you can put your own thrusters to make it planetary-capable. In the underside of each neck, towards the outside, there is a conveyor line you can easily refit to add thrusters to.

I am loving this in my survival world. Why the mix of the two types of thrusts though? Is that an asthetic choice? I am too scared to see if this is planet capable. I would imagine not.

Yeah I try to not build ships that are just creative mode trophies and nothing more. I want my stuff to actually be used.

I do use the plugin stuff but even still im not into subgrid detail building. I can appriciate the builders that go to all that trouble to show what can be done but I will never build and fly them myself, they are just show pieces in my opinion.

yep :)

Aye, that is one of the main reasons I also avoid them in general. I like being able to build my stuff in pretty much any server, straight out.

Yep, I won't be doing any of that subgrid stuff for aesthetics. It's just too buggy in this game and requires an external plugin launcher to make them in survival.

This is a very awesome replica. Looking forward to SC builds in SE2 where details dont need subgrid shenanigans.
