Armored Mercs

Description
Improved in-game models with armors for most mercs. The goal is to make them more realistic while keeping their uniqueness. You can use mod options to switch between vanilla and modified appearance for each merc.

Motivation
I was really annoyed by the in-game models of several mercs. Even some top-tier mercs arrive on the battlefield with completely unsuitable clothing and without armor. For example, Reaper and Sidney would rather go to a wedding instead of a gunfight wearing their original suits, while Magic originally looks like as if he's going to steal some money from the local store. :D In contrast, some enemy units (Adonis and army soldiers) and even militia generally look more professional, just like real soldiers.

Features
This mod changes the in-game models of most mercs (A.I.M. and I.M.P.), especially by adding armors to them, while ensuring unique appearance that resembles their avatar images. Options are provided to switch between vanilla and modified appearance for each merc individually. For some mercs, there are more than two options, e.g., different hair styles for Buns. If you change mod options, you should reload the current sector (e.g., by loading a saved game) to see the changes.

This mod is heavily based on other mods, especially "Mercs Wear Armor" and "Camo Pack", but I made a lot of changes according to my personal preference.

If you prefer an even more professional and uniform look for your mercs (including helmets optionally), then you can give a try to "Misc - Show Equipped Armor".

Feedback is welcome. :)

Compatibility
  • Compatible with version 1.5.x of the game.
  • Compatible with existing save games, safe to enable/disable any time.
  • Should be compatible with other mods that do not change in-game models of mercs.

Version: 2.00-033

Hi All,
A new version is available with mod options to switch between vanilla and modified appearance. For some mercs, you have more than two options, e.g., different hair styles for Buns.

@benden, thanks for the tip. I hope you will like this. :)

@Rikimaru, thank you! :)
Anyway, if you'd like to try a uniform and professional look for your mercs, give a try to "Misc - Show Equipped Armor" .

@TheSuit thanks for the feedback. I tried to achieve a good balance between "more armored" and "more unique". But of course, this is a matter of taste.

dude this is so cool!
i started working on a mod like this but where it was all in black uniform - kinda like how in the Expendables, they're all in jet black but still have different looks :coolvanguard: - but man, I give up on shit all the time haha I'm so glad to see someone did it, and did it their way.
Award + like for sure :JA3medal:

I get why people want this, but it also feels like they lose their unique personality and just become ordinary.

Igor probably is the only one that still remains unique with his Russian Uniform so props to that.
