Description
Ever thought it was kind of weird how all the research in the game is free? Looking for an additional challenge? This is the mod for you!

This mod adds costs to research under the logic that proper R&D requires materials and prototypes to experiment with and then perfect to create a final product. Most will require resources while some will require completed items of prior tiers or related products. The goal is to add both additional challenge by making you think more about resource management on what you're going to research, and if/when you do instead of relying solely on time and colonist skill.

Generally speaking, the costs are one to three times what it takes to craft or build one item depending on their tier and resource cost to build/create, though there are some with variations with techs that unlock multiple items that use different materials. I tried to keep things fair without costs being trivial.

This mod affects Vanilla items only!

If you use Old Earth Tech - Redux (and it's add-ons), Cyberpunks - Weapons, Armor, & Buildings Only, and other select mods, check out this version below which adds support to them. Only use one at a time to prevent conflicts.
