The barge:

A transport ship primarily designed to carry vehicles, the role it was used in was more like a mining tender which it
was not well suited to. Because of this and because the role it was designed for (large transport primarily for
atmospheric vehicles, like deploying a planetary drilling station) didn't really exist it was eventually replaced by the
Ultramar freighter which was designed as a heavy duty mining tender.
