The Endeavour Railcars are a Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) train operated by Sydney Trains on short distance intercity passenger rail services in New South Wales. They are mechanically identical to Xplorers but are fitted out for short distance services, particularly featuring denser 3x2 seating and no buffet or food services. They normally operate as two car sets, but can operate as 4 car sets during peak periods. Fantasy 6 car configuration is provided, though this does not occur in regular service.

Sets consist of two carriages, TE carriages having a wheelchair accessible toilet, and LE carriages having luggage space and bicycle racks. Each car has one bogie powered by a Cummins KTA-19R engine rated at 383kW coupled to a Voith hydraulic transmission, the other bogie being unpowered. The maximum speed of the train is 160km/h, but they are limited to 145km/h in service. 15 two car Endeavour sets were produced, with one set made up of carriages LE 2865 and TE 2815 converted to Xplorer carriages EA 2508 and EC 2528.
Two refurbishment programmes have been carried out: in 2009-2010 the first was carried out, replacing seats with an reversible and improved design, vinyl flooring replacing carpet, and other improvements to air conditioning, crew facilities, and installation of the blue, yellow, and black CityRail livery; and in 2017 the second was completed featuring new lighting, new flooring similar to Waratahs, refurbished seating, and refurbished couplers, with cars 2851 and 2801 receiving an orange and yellow livery.

They operate from Sydney Central to Bathurst on the Bathurst Bullet on the Blue Mountains Line, Campbelltown (some services from Central) to Moss Vale and Goulburn on the Southern HIghlands Line, Bomaderry to Kiama on the South Coast Line, and Newcastle Interchange to Maitland, Telarah, Dungog, Singleton, and Scone on the Hunter Line. The sets' high acceleration in comparison to locomotive hauled trains make them able to maintain high average speeds while making stops, and enabling request stops to be serviced without great loss of travel time. The sets are slated to be replaced by CAF Civity "R Sets", however seemingly not enough sets have been ordered and project timelines have slipped further and further.

cityrail's original texture was in a way such that I could not practically reference the texture with my mod, as such while the mod is not required credit must be given to cityrail for the texture as this mod is entirely based on it. My reorganisation of textures also allows for future liveries and rolling stock expansions to be completed, such as a Westrail ADP/ADQ railcar mod to be completed soon.
